Stress V Thyroid

So which comes first?

I think my meds are about right so why do I feel more stressed these days?

Do you grab life by the throat or lie down in a darkened room?

A bit of both really - when you feel up to it you grab life by the throat and when you need to lay down in a darkened room then that's what you'll have to do.

Stress does effect me badly and can knock me sideways for days, I just cannot function at all so there is no other option that to take things easy but when I feel fine I get on with things and enjoy life.

Hi,This connection has been well known to psyches ,also with depression for Many years, which is why a good one ,always tests the thyroid and even if results normal, if they cannot cure the mental condition, then they treat with a little Levo .it is true that everyone gets stress etc. However, make sure your tSH, T4 ( top two thirds, normally of range) Free T3, (near the top of range, normally ) a right and also the other autoimmune and hormonal conditions, annual tests for these.

If nothing there, then just deal with it how you can, A lot of people find things like swimming, yoga etc etc helpful.

Best wishes,

Jackie

Hi Just found your reply, if you click on "Reply to this" under any post you wish to reply to , then we know.We all get in a muddle with it, sometimes! Thyroid! Migraine is autoimmune and definitely connected to hormonal levels, especially to T3. If put on T3, split the dose, 12 hours apart. Also only take half or less of the dose for the first week or so, otherwise you can have lots of side effects ( very potent) one of them being severe headaches! The other thing that can cause bad headache, less than migraine, is dehydration, always make sure you drink plenty of fluid,, water mainly. kidneys need it any way.

Best wishes,

Jackie
