Laboratory procedures = 60 nmol/L Total 25-OH Vitamin D
Total Vitamin D level 50 nmol/L Adequate.
Folate = 4.5 ug/L
Ferritin = 29 ug/L It says, NB: A normal Ferritin in the presence of inflammatory changes does not exclude Iron deficiency. Does anyone know what this means?
TSH = 0.66 (0.20 - 4.50) ON 75mg Thyroxine
Thank you

Without the ranges it is difficult to be certain, but I would say your ferritin is too low. I have read on the STTM website that for women a level of 70-90 is optimal. It also says that ferritin can be raised if there is inflammation in the body, and so may not give an accurate result.
Hi Without ranges, ask for them always. It is difficult but I think your D ( hormonal) could well be low. in any case you need a corrected calcium test, if it is , before treatment. There are several D tests, you may identify yours by clicking on the WEB, bloods , If corrected calcium in range then treatment with D Ok, if high in range with care as F makes calcium go up. Re test both after 3 months treatment ( D takes that long) Foliate looks low, what is your B12, they go together, usually B12 needs to be high in its huge range, hormonal , autoimmune. Ferritin if the normal test, then OK but lowish, worth taking just one sachet a day of Spatone,Amazon.The little sentence re inflamatory is the new, " Not my fault if wrong". It just means if inflamation ie something like Ulcerated colitis etc, then the Ferritin test may not be so accurate.
TSH on its own useless, you need T4 and FT3 always too. If GP cannot do them, then it is worth paying so that you can have the correct treatment, on line, but annoying as so important. Ask the GP first, if says "No" some GP`s ( not mine) will let you pay them , to pay their Lab, very cheap. Otherwise I use Blue Horizon, main site, quote TUK 10 for discount, Finger prick or venous bloods, £60-£70 with discount. All simple, very good ,well known Lab,which is vital for treatment from a doc. Personally , even if I felt brilliant ,I would still do all this, as maybe just needed as a starting point for the future.
