Swollen neck Hypo sysmptom?

Hi Need a bit of varification, I readthat swollen face could be Hypo symptom , But i have sweeling undermy chin and around my neck is this the same? is this a Hpo symptom? Sorry if this is silly question but brain in non functioning mode at moment!

could be high or low.. if your thyroid gland is enlarged it could be for a number of reasons definitely a thyroid symptom but high or low nobody knows until you get it investigated

The type of swelling caused by hypo occurs all over.

Often the only bit that is obvious, especially to other people, is the face. But many people notice swelling of their own neck, chin, arms, legs, everything.

There is a build-up of "mucin" a jelly-like substance in the skin and within the body generally.

If you press a finger tip on, for example, a swollen upper-arm, it will not leave an dent. It is called non-pitting oedema. Specifically, it is called myxoedema which is quite often used as a term for hypothyroidism generally.

The only really silly question is the one that is not asked.

Hi Rod,

Deffiently noticing in neck and little in ankles, have done the dent check and doesnt leave dent when pressed, so could point towards hypothyroidism.
