9. am. cortisol= 223 nmoi/l....does this look o.k.
9 a.m. cortisol.: 9. am. cortisol= 223 nmoi/l... - Thyroid UK
9 a.m. cortisol.
Funnily enough I was just looking this up:
patient.co.uk/doctor/Adrena...
and it says
Low baseline (9.00 am) cortisol (<100 nmol/L) is strongly suggestive; >220 nmol/L excludes diagnosis.
Yours at 223 is only just into the "okay" range. I would considering asking for a second test - after all one measurement is only a snapshot, and who knows if it was a good day or a bad day.
Thank you. Had synacthen test at kings hospital = normal. feel very bad, weak no matter what dose of n.d.t. Have been bad 13 years. Only have few days well, then down i go. seen lots of doctors . how are you?
I'm not 100% sure but I think you only get an abnormal test result if you have full blown Addison's disease? This doesn't mean you don't have a degree of adrenal insufficiency.
Hi I have no specific knowledgge of this test, However, my Endo says that the only reliable test for cortisone is 24 hour urine, cortisone tablet ( prescribed) at mid night, then a blood test at 9am. This certainly does show low adrenal function ie low cortisone.
Best wishes,
Jackie
Hi Jackie. I am going back to Endo 6.p.m. today. He increased my n.d.t dose to 31/2. grains. Got blood tests he wonted. My 9.a.m. cortisol=223nmo1/l. If i need that info, I will ask about this test. He did say saliva test not reliable. I am worried . Got up to 31/2grains. still bad. thank you.
