picked up a prescription yesterday.have sciatica now on top of everything else. GP wrote me a wee note attached to prescription saying he has referred me to a pain clinic. And hopes tbese give me some relief in mean time (tramadol) makes me laugh how a letter of complaint can bring about change in how you are treated.

Please be careful with tramadol, if you are hypo. I had surgery and tried coming off with horrendous withdrawal symptoms. It is horrible stuff.

Hi Roslin, I can relate to this. I used to have it for pain relief in the early days of my bladder disease. It used to make me feel really sick, and itch all over. I gave up on it. I now use gabapentin. It is sedating, and gives you more brain fog, but who wants to be alert when they're in a lot of pain. X

Think i may have ruffled some feathers at the surgery. But i will continue on my fight against them on my misdiagnosis and incorrect medication.and total lack of care in my health matters

....lower back pain resulting in sciatica can also be caused by having an UAT. Muscles need T3 to function efficiently including the heart ! The muscles in the butt are some of the biggest - gluteus maximus and all that ! The name says it all ! So when these muscles are weak they do not support the lumbar spine - not just the ones I mentioned - there are many in that area.

I think of the spine as a posh marquee ( not a tent !! ) and when the guy ropes become slack then the marquee collapses ! Am sure you get the picture ! Once the vertebrae become compressed then nerves are agitated and become inflamed. Reducing the inflammation is key so that the nerves can reduce back to normal and do not press on the sheath protecting them.

Have had spinal surgery and have sciatica on both sides - mostly manageable. Do lots of yoga - so when you are feeling better have a go. Maybe google sciatica and yoga and you may well be surprised !

For a good insight into the muscles of the back take a look at bandhayoga.com Ray Long was an Orthapaedic Surgeon in the States and also a yogi. I find that understanding the anatomy stops the anxiety.

If you have any questions then do please ask.......x

Doctor has gave me a box of 60. Two per day slow release.

I use Tramadol, when I need it and have no problems. I have different meds, going upto Oramorph, for how I'm feeling during the day. I have had spi al problems since young and had rods put in for scoliosis. I suffer a great deal these days but am very careful when it comes to painkillers.

I have tried Gabapentin and Lyrica which gave me awful side effects, AND weight gain. Life is enough of a struggle :(

Good luck.
