Hi yes could well be hepatic flexure, I get pain under my ribs on both sides where the colon turns the corners, I also find it worsens when I am constipated, hope this helps, lucykris

P.s might be worth checking with gp I case it is your gall bladder though

i have this also and i have also had all the tests done. nothing. gastro dr. suggested post hepatic shingles, chiro says back mislignment, pt says muscular. i do see a corellation between the intensity and digestion. i've had this for years. it's a real bother.

Hi Lynsey,

Google search ileocecal valve syndrome as I think this might help you

hi therapist ive had a look and with ileocecal valve it says you would get pain on the left side?

Hi Lynsey,

The ileocecal valve is on the right hand side and is the valve between the small and large bowel. When problematic it can cause swelling on the right hand side around the top of your right hip and lower rib and this can come and go. The pain can be dull to excruciating and I've even had clients on morphine for this! Is can be managed with no drugs at all and some abdominal massage.

It can cause referred pain across the whole abdomen at times.

Please contact me if you need further info.

i've had this situation for a long time. it's with me almost every day. it's not terribly painful, but itchy and annoying and constant. dr. prescribed neurontin, but i won't take it. is there anything other than massage that might help. drs. have suggested that it is; post hepatic shingles, muscle soreness gas, ibs, but no dr. has been able to suggest any remedy for it.

can you help. also, how does a person get this?

Hi I know what you are going through ive been told about hepatic flexure syndrome where the bowel is full of gas and also constipation the ribs are tender to the touch, I have this nearly everyday and it does get you down but my anxiety doesnt help, I cant wear anything tight around my waist, massaging from right to left does help get things moving.

Do you have bad back pain with this too. And after a year - are you better. And if so, HOW?!

I had this for weeks and I cut out the 33 worse gas producing foods and no more pain. Was so bad at times I couldn't sleep.
