Splenic flexure syndrome?

I'm doing a bit of googling which is always fatal. For the past 48 hours I've had a stabbing pain in my left upper abdomen just next to and slightly to the left side of my navel.

It started in the middle of two really stressful days and so common sense tells me it's my IBS in a new form! It doesn't really hurt to press and moving around sometimes helps. I am wondering whether it's trapped wind in one place which won't shift. Any suggestions because the anxiety is now mounting! x

Well, trapped wind is pretty painful when it won't move. Has it gone on constantly for 2 days? With the stress and everything it could be ibs stuff. I had pains and trapped wind on and off for a few days after I had some stress last week about my motor being a write-off.

But the splenic flexure I think is a bit further left and higher up. But still maybe the pain can travel as wind pains do.

Maybe ask your doctor if it lasts much longer or gets worse etc. Or give 111 a ring or via website. They are really good. I give them 5 stars for their help last November when I lost hearing in one ear. The doctor at my local health clinic was informed and called me back so fast! (ear fine now by the way)

I posted a youtube video, it should be down the page or the next page here, about how to relieve trapped wind with a yoga pose. It worked for mewithin about 20 minutes or so. If you can give that a try and see if any trapped wind will move and hopefully come out the other end.

Thanks Luisa22, I have tried yoga poses before and they do work. This is more like an intermittent stitch but as my anxiety is pretty bad right now I usually put everything down to that! Until I start googling that is 🙄

I’m right there with you … stitch like feeling and pressure left side I’m sure I get wind trapped there when I have been constipated but I Google too and release the anxiety chimp 🙈! I do some belly breathing and hear it gurgling I use mindfulness but definitely need to break the stress - IBS - Google- stress cycle …l hope you are feeling better

Oh yes, googling is so depressing. You either get endless repeats of what you have read 100 times before, and go down the page to see more info, and get told "see your doctor". They have to say that of course because everyone is scared of litigation. The scientific sites are the best, if you can decipher them! lol

Or...you get things that scare you witless, and which almost always don't apply but they can get to the mind and anxiety can start. Suddenly trapped wind turns into some horrendous thing.

Yes, it's the see your doctor bit that finishes me off! And we all know what a joke that is!
