Hi, I am sorry you are in so much discomfort, I have suffered with terrible IBS for over two years and am still trying to deal with it. With the wind I find lying on my back then pulling my knees to my chest and rocking gently relieves the wind that builds up. It is a yoga position that a friend recommended. If this doesn't work for you I would suggest you google some yoga position that stimulate the digestive system. It has brought me relief. Good luck and know that you are not alone x

Hi, I've been suffering from IBS for nearly two years however I have only been diagnosed within the last month. I don't know if you have tried it but I find that peppermint tea really helps with cramping and digesting my meals. Peppermints are also great as is a simple hot water bottle. I don't know if this was of any help at all :) xx

Having suffered with IBS for 30 years or so I've tried many remedies including peppermint tea and fennel tea (which has a gentle liquorice taste). My GP has recently prescribed Buscopan tablets. You can buy these over the counter at any chemist and they are often advertised on tv. I find they work very well in calming my stomach down.

Hi sufferer, I suffer like everyone else I think I have i.b.s, for wind I try pllates once a week for relaxation but when I get it badly I sit with my legs virtually flat and looking almost horizontal and rub my stomach hard, Gastrocote when it's really bad works wonder as it makes you burp or fart!

I swear by Andrews Salts when my stomach flares up (today is one of those day!) couple or more if required tea spoons of the stuff in some water & it does help. Sometimes it totally clears it, somethimes it helps take the edge off!!

I have had IBS for over 30 years, and if you have not done so get a food intolerance test, and see what foods and drinks you take may be causing the excess wind and cramps, I am lactose intolerant (dairy free), and I was advised by my GP that Lactose intolerant people get more wind and flatulence than anyone else.

I have been on Buscopan and Colpermin (both available over the counter or by prescription which can be cheaper), both help with wind and pain, as well as bloating and Buscopan states that is for confirmed diagnosis of IBS, so it is recommended.

I also take Loperamide I have the diarrohea format of IBS, and it slows the bowel down and allows me to do things for a lot longer than rushing to the toilet.

I also take Epsom Salts baths, this is good for rehydrating the body and it is good in the bath for a soak, you have to stay in there for 15 minutes and have the water hot, (not boiling of course).

You can get these salts from Holland and Barrett and most health stores.

hope this helps

x

Hi , Started with real bad abdominal pains 2yrs ago. doctor never said I had irritable bowel but gathered it was from medication. Peppermint capsule, Mebeverine Colpermin Colofac non much help. Requested to go on protem plus which gave better relief, then went on lactose free. So much improved still get some discomfort daily...apples tend to start some burning discomfort, not sure about eggs. Great to have improved as seems some have suffered long time. No reason what causes it.

I find medicinal charcoal helps and if its what I call "upstairs wind" as in burps as opposed to farting I find having my back rubbed by my partner helps, just like winding a baby it really helps , I can bloat so much and this "winding" gets the air out , don't do it in public as there is a lot of burping. For farts ( down stairs wind) I swear by medicinal charcoal, I used to love lentils but they would give me down stairs wind too much, I cannot eat onions either.
