I’ve been on mebeverine for a couple of years now. One tablet on a morning tides me over until I get a bad flare then I go up to two maybe 3 pills a day depending on how bad the flare.
Thing is, I’ve had the same crampy pain in the same area for ages now. Either under my left rib/left side of my bellybutton or the left side of my groin area. I’ll also get the sensation I'm gona have the runs but it eventually wanes. Some days I get no pain whatsoever but sometimes I’ll get it for days on end.
Anyone else had this issue? I’m thinking maybe a pill break would benefit but I could really do without the flares as the new year comes swinging in.
I know this app is no substitute for a gp but I’m bored of being fobbed of by them and I hate consulting dr google cause he always tells me I’m gona die so..
Kind words much appreciated

hello there. I was on Mebeverine for a couple of years for IBS D. It seemed to work in nullifying the pain, but eventually I started to wonder if it was making “flares” more frequent. I decided to wean myself off. It seemed to make things better. Now I only take one tablet if I get a bad flare. So I suggest give yourself a break and see how it goes.
Hi, can I ask if you have ever tried Buscopan, and if so which one out of that and Mebeverine did you find works better. I am thinking of trying mebeverine as I find with Buscopan the effect of it does'nt seem to last long.
Hi there, I’ve tried both and found Mebeverine better in the longer term but now I feel like it’s just not working any more. Was very much needed in the beginning though to reduce gut inflammation!
