This past week has been a nightmare for my bowels. I almost went to the ER on Monday because of very intense lower left pain. This all started with some fullness and pain in the lower middle and by Sunday it began working it's way to my lower left. By Monday I could barely stand up to walk and my entire system was really bloated with this sharp relentless lower left pain.
I thought maybe it was constipation. I had a couple tiny BM's that were mucus-coated. Looked maybe like there was a little blood in them but I wasn't completely sure. I didn't have much luck with passing stool or gas on Monday and just kept getting more sore and bloated throughout the day. I was stuck at work so I couldn't do much about it. I did an enema that night and it didn't really relieve the pain but it did get rid of some stool. I also started a clear liquid fast Monday.
By the next day the bloating had gone down but the pain was still there just maybe not as bad. I continued the clear liquid fast as well as taking some probiotics and drinking some prune juice. Had some more soft BM's throughout the week and slowly the pain began to settle down day by day.
Now I just get a niggling pain in the mornings in that area. I can almost massage it away but as soon as gas or stool enter that area of my system, it's back to pain although thankfully, not as bad as it was. Expelling gas or stool does seem to relieve the pain now but it didn't even touch the pain earlier in the week though the enema, I believe, was what started the healing process.
I see a GI on Tuesday but I'm just curious if anyone else deals with this. What you've found out from your doctors. Is the pain I'm still having from some sort of "flare" or is this just a new normal? Any experience or advice is appreciated.
