My son has had d and v a couple of weeks ago which cleared up after a few days. His sister got it too a few days later.
Unfortunately he’s got it again, I’m presuming it’s a re infection ( he’s got a GP appointment booked for after the weekend just to get checked out) but I was wondering if a course of probiotics would be helpful for him . He’s not IBS as far as we’re aware.
Any advice appreciated.

I have tried many probiotics over the years and Alforex has helped me the most plus it has been clinically studied. Would be no harm in giving it a go, just to support his system during this time. Sometimes a viral or bacterial infection can spill over into more long term symptoms such as IBS by disrupting the microbiome, so might be a good idea to provide that support now. Note that COVID-19 can sometimes cause gastrointestinal upset and in some people this may be the only symptom and it can at times linger. I am not sure of his age, so you might need to check with Precision Biotics, the makers, if Alflorex is age appropriate. They have a support help line:
Sometimes Saccharomyces boulardii (a type of probiotic) can be useful for for infectious diarrhoea so may be worth looking into after the GP has ruled out anything more concerning . I got mine from Optibac.
