allergy test

I have developed eczema to the extent that I now have an itchy rash on large areas of my body. This has happened over the last few days and I have decided I want to have an allergy test as seeking the answer by food elimination is not working.

can anyone recommend a self test before I approach my GP? I’m ok to pay but I do need to use something as accurate as possible - I would prefer NHS because in this situation I reckon it’s probably more valid.

I had a basic test done on the NHS, came back negative. However I had a consultation with a homeopath and several allergies were flagged.

So who to believe ?

I suffer from eczema ( mild ) and now suffer from chronic rhinitis.

My allergies have got worse since Covid (3 times) and vaccines as has my IBS .

In my case I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s no longer a coincidence that my gut, eczema and hay fever have got worse since 2020.

I never had hay-fever until a few years back.

Again IBS and eczema was unproblematic until Covid and a cocktail of antibiotics for repeated ear/ sinus infections ( again since Covid).

Good luck trying to get a GP to admit to a link though.

Probably blame it on menopause.

Worth getting a basic allergy test though from your GP, then take it from there .

Thank you for your response- it helps to be aware of what is happening to other people. I have definitely had a small improvement of my IBSC recently which coincides with the eczema starting. Had the new RSV vax the other day and now heading for the latest covid and flu ones. Goodness … maybe I should start to have a rethink.

I’ve had the flu jab for 2 years in a row but I’m swerving it this one, I’m not in an at risk category so as with the Covid jabs I can’t rule this out as a trigger. Got a horrific sinus/ear infection a few weeks after the last one which started a cycle of repeated ear infections.

Fingers crossed.

Thanks for your response and good luck to you. Modern science is amazing but we really are even more in the hands of the pharmaceutical industry with vaccines.

Food allergy tests have no scientific basis. They are a waste of money. The only way to find out is through elimination and reintroduction. Advice here:

Also avoid any alternative practitioners.

Many thanks. Although I have no experience of the tests I do think you are probably correct about this.
