Suspect stool test results.

About 2 weeks ago I used one of those bowel cancer stool tests that they send out in the post. Yesterday I had another one back with a letter saying that I need to re-test because the results of the last one were unclear. I`m now scared to death that i have bowel cancer. What could have caused this result?

Perhaps the specimen you sent was damaged by them somehow, or in the Post - there could be a lot of reasons why, try not to worry and send another one QUICKLY and hopefully put your mind at rest, sooner rather than later!!

Hi...same thing happened to me last year..and yes, it's very scary. However in my case it was just that I had piles, so as the test showed signs of blood it had to be re done. Please try not to worry too much, you are being well looked after, and please let us know how you get on. xxx

The test was just for bowel cancer?

I've recently had the same thing happen to me & the 2nd test came back normal. However I now have to repeat it again to confirm the result. As I'm on holiday at present it has to wait till I return. I do occasionally see a tiny bit of blood due to a small anal fissure so I hope this was the reason for the blood they think they found. However, I was concerned at the time but also felt that if a colonoscopy was needed then I'd rather have one to see if there was a bigger problem at this stage than wait till symptoms were worse. This is why we do these tests.

My brother had the same and it turned out to be a small polyp which was easily removed. Please don’t bury your head, there are numerous reasons for a recall and the worrying is worse than knowing.

I had 2 more tests through the post, & they were negative.
