I know how you feel. I feel like I only live half a life as I too can never leave the house until the afternoon. In pain and just too weak in the morning. It's usually too late to do anything nice as can't go far mutch to my husbands annoyance. I tell myself half a life is better than no life. It works sometimes
you are not alone. I’m nearly 78 and struggle in the same way. It’s dispiriting and so painful. I do find deep breathing (get the free Breath Ball App) sometimes eases the pain. It’s a vicious circle of pain and anxiety affecting my bowels. I feel for you - try not to judge yourself when you need self compassion.
I do sympathise with you. I'm nearly 72 and feel so much time is wasted. After weeks of being fine, I upset my IBS last week by eating a pizza with aubergine in tomato sauce on. No skin on aubergines but I didn't realise the sauce also had onions in, which is a big no-no. Also green pesto which has ground up pine nuts (can't eat any nuts except smooth peanut butter). Stomach in havoc from Tuesday - Sunday. This heat doesn't seem to help either. Like you, I don't go far and when I do go out, have to wear a substantial pad in case of leakages. My husband is fairly understanding, but it is infuriating not to be able to do all the things we used to do.
Don't blame yourself, it is so easy to eat something untoward, or be tempted by a food you like. Drinking more water seems to help things calm down, and remember, it's been like this before and recovers. Do hope you soon feel better and in less pain.
Happens to me too, mornings are terrible, and they may start at stupid o'clock or continue from the previous day. I try to walk even if it's just going out in the garden (lucky to have a nice private one), some days not at all. At the moment hard to concentrate on anything.
All those things I could be doing, places to go to, people to meet. All on hold.
