From time to time I experience having mucus appear on the toilet paper when l have had a BM.
Tonight, for the first time ever, I think l may have passed mucus whilst going for a pee. This has happened a couple of times this evening. Has anyone else experienced this? My anxiety currently through the roof!
Hi, I've had Mucus during a BM , it sounds like discharge to me , maybe see your GP if worried. Hope it gets resolved
it’s very common to pass mucus if you suffer with IBS, but best to get it checked to put your mind at ease.
Hi MountainHare1. I have this on occasion mainly if I'm loose but also on occasion with constipation. I feel it's quite common with ibs. If your concerned I would put your mind at rest and speak to your doctor.
Yes I have had this happen many times over the years and i can understand your anxiety too as IBS is always throwing random symptoms at us interestingly I have gradually been increasing daily fibre intake over the last year (I get mostly IBSC) and this seems to have stopped
I also get this from time to time since I took Alflorex, which changed my bowel habit from IBS-D to IBS-M (though I consider that an improvement , which is why I continue to take it). I think, because the pelvic floor muscles are interconnected, opening the lower urinary sphincter can relax the anal sphincter, causing the release of any mucous remaining in the anal canal after a BM. I’m just grateful for any improvement, so I’ve put up with the slight discharge.
It is very common with IBS but if ypu are extremely worried and anxious please book an appointment with your GP surgery. X
