THICK RED/ORANGEY MUCUS IN LOOSE STOOL.

Has anyone ever got the urge they need the bathroom & you go & it’s watery with thick orangey mucus? I’m going out my mind with worry. I can’t work out if it’s blood or not. I feel like I’m going round in circles, recovering from anorexia & now this is making me not want to eat😢.

Hi I’ve just joined this site and this is the first post I’ve seen and I have exactly the same problem, been for over a week now, I have to do a stool sample, well I’ll do it on Monday , I rang docs and they said leave for another 7 days and I did and this is where I’m at, my stomach is very bloated and I’ve got such smelly wind ( sorry to be so gory) have you spoke to your doctor?

Been to the doctors over 20 times with the same problem. I ended up with an eating disorder leading to anorexia because of it as I stopped eating to avoid going toilet as I was that scared. I’ve had numerous stool samples, blood tests & a sigmoidoscopy everything was clear. It’s been on going for 2 years now. However in the last year my symptoms have gotten a lot worse & im ending up in a vicious circle not eating & scared I’m going to relapse but the doctors just seem to fob me off

I’m so sorry you are suffering like this, have you thought about changing doctors?

I totally get it about the not eating to avoid going to the toilet, I do the same, only eat when not going out, I’m a million miles away from anorexia, I’m overweight,

I don’t know what suggest other than change doctors as you really need to get yourself sorted, I’m waiting until Monday to do my you know what, I will let you know the outcome, I feel so bloated, have a pain in left side just under my ribs, keep thinking I’m gonna die then my anxiety goes through the roof and I start to panic Then I can’t breathe, vicious circle, take care xx

It's quite common with IBS so try not to worry too much. Could you be lactose intolerant? After 14 years or so of trial and error, I find certain foods make the mucus problem worse. Milk, cream, too much gluten. I take 2 probiotics before bed and it has helped but it's taken years of experimenting to get where I am today. Good luck with the tests.

If you're not eating much, it sounds as if your colon is full of gas and may give you the urge 'to go '. It's normal for the bowel to secrete mucus, it helps us to defecate, if you've not got much to 'get rid of ' you'll notice it more

I really really feel for you. I'm currently in my third round of inpatient treatment because I was too scared of being constipated and was told by my GP to do the fodmap diet strictly...for two yrs! My only advice is seek real expert advice and please just pester and pester until you do x

I’ve been contending with a mucous issue - I have nuanced it down to 3 types I get - for well over a year. As my GI doc & dietitian have told me a little is normal, otherwise it’s the intestinal lining sloughing off due to irritation. I’d consider looking into taking a SIBO lactulose breath test. I initially started on the Fodmap diet & have been on the Jacobi BiPhasic Diet for a long time due to SIBO. I am severely limited in what my innards can tolerate. It’s important to find the foods that do not cause you irritation. My dietitian has been worth more than gold to me through this challenging journey. I hope yours will be too!

Do you think you might have a good allergy? Maybe fodmap diet might help. Try googling it. Not a medical opinion obviously but just a thought. X
