Recently had a CT scan that revealed Lipomatosis of the ileocaecal valve.Has anyone else had this diagnosis that could offer any dietary advice?

TIA.

P.S. I'm currently waiting for an appointment with NHS Gastroenterologist but it could be next year.

I am familiar with "lipomas" (benign fat-filled tumours) as my dog had a few of them which were harmless and never interfered with any function and were all subcutaneous. They didn't need to be removed.

But "lipomatosis". What is that? Is it when there are a number of them in the same area?

I am sorry to be a bit ignorant of what this entails. Is it causing a blockage of some kind or malfunction of the ileocaecal valve?

Or is it something else entirely?

At a wild guess, I would say that if that's the case, then they are interfering with function and probably...the solution might be removal if possible?

If the ileocaecal valve isn't working correctly there is a chance you could develop SIBO possibly. You might be helped by knowing what diet helps those with SIBO symptoms.

But I am only guessing. I don't know enough about it. See what your Gastroenterologist suggests.

Thanks for your reply. I'm really not sure what it is myself, only that there is fat involved The information came from CT report that was looking for cancer, of which there was no sign.I requested a referral to see a Gastroenterologist which could take 20 weeks or more.

I will now be seeing a Gastroenterologist privately on Monday and hoping for some answers.

That's a good idea. 20 weeks is a long time to wait isn't it? I hope your consultation with the doctor on Monday will be helpful.

Yes, lipomas are not cancerous and contain fatty tissue only. They are only a problem as far as I know, if they interfere in any way with function. Very large ones could do this, or a mass of small ones in one specific area.
