Ibs- C then sudden D. Any successes?

My issue is that I will be constipated for several days. Then at sudden moment, I have to go to the bathroom fast— like within a couple of minutes. And it will be total diarrhea for hours until I’m completely empty. Anyone else experience this? Any tips?

it’s more pronounced when traveling. I’ll get constipated (and I tried Metamucil and other foods, did Lots of walking— no luck), then I worry when will the big D hit will come. It really makes a person anxious.

Hi I had this and my consultant said it was overflow diarrhoea from being very constipated. I was prescribed prucalopride to help with the constipation which sorted the problem out.

Had a headache for a few days which I knew about, but other than that, no.

It sounds like you're experiencing alternating episodes of constipation and sudden diarrhea, which can be distressing and disruptive to daily life, especially when traveling. This pattern is common in conditions like bile acid malabsorption and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).Here are some tips that may help manage these symptoms and alleviate anxiety:Try to maintain a regular schedule for eating, drinking, and bowel movements, even when traveling. Consistency can help regulate bowel function and minimize unexpected episodes.Stay hydrated, monitor triggers, gradually increase fiber but be cautious with high-fiber foods if they exacerbate diarrhea and consider medication.

Remember that managing digestive symptoms often involves trial and error to find what works best for you. Be patient with yourself and continue to work closely with your healthcare provider to develop a personalized management plan.
