how can I suppress stool build up

hello, it’s been a while since I posted here but Hopi g someone can help where no doctor has been able to. My colon is always full of stool despite having 15 plus bowel movements a day. I do not eat much in the hope that might relieve the symptoms. But still stool builds up and makes me feel like I’m being crushed from the inside. And it’s relentless I feel like this all day and everyday. I cannot go out, visit my family or do my job. Thankfully I work at home. I have been tested for everything include bile acid malabsorption, Sitz marker studies, capsule endoscopy. Trust me the lot. Nothing is found , to the doctor i am the healthiest man on the planet. Their only concern was the substantial weight loss due to not eating. So why this constant stool build up. The X-ray showed severe stool burden but the doctor just seem to dismiss this. But it is the problem. The stool build up is why I feel dreadful all day. Really hope someone who understand what we all go through on this forum might offer some advice or thoughts.

Thank you

Good evening,

I am sorry to read of your stool build up, it must be uncomfortable for you.

I do wonder if you have tried a good laxative.

I'm sorry I dont have a cure-all for you.

Best regards

Hi, As a fellow sufferer of slow bowel syndrome I have had to radically change my eating habits to a mainly plant and fruit diet. A little meat once a week and fish 3 times a week. I have been like this since a teenager. Meat takes longer to digest and sits in the bowel longer. Fish is better but can still block you. Eat grains. Quinoa, wholemeal rice, cereals, seeds and nuts are nutritious. I have two level tablespoons of linseeds a day, one after breakfast and one in the evening. I eat plant based almond milk from Tesco with my shredded wheat and the nuts and seeds followed by wholemeal toast, Make changes gradually but it may help you, especially if you cut down on meat. I eat mainly chicken and no red meat. Salad is also good at moving things along lettuce, cucumber. Tomatoes and especially beetroot. Any salad that is water based helps and also as a man you need to drink at least 2 to 3 litres a day. For me meat is the main problem for constipation. I do hope this helps you. Prune juice is good too but increase from a 100ml to 150 gradually.!! Exercise when you can walk, swim, or just move about as much as you can. Good Luck

Do hope this helps you.

Hello - what a lovely informative and interesting message - thank you !

I have drunk prune juice - rather too much the first time !!

I eat little red meat, some chicken and some fish. But I don't have the same rigour about my diet as I think you have - and I need to change that.

I do like my salads and some green veg.

best regards

Presumably you've ascertained it's not impaction? Also, that you have seen colorectal consultant and had a colonoscopy?

Boring comment - do you use enemas often? 'cause that seems like the most efficient/natural way of managing it

I’m wondering if this is visceral hypersensitivity which can make normal bowel activity very painful. When mine started it sounded very similar and as a retired nurse i could not understand what had happened to me! Anyway 4 years later, I conceded it must be ibs with visceral hypersensitivity, which is now manageable with Duloxetine ( 60mgs ), and avoiding some fruits and vegetables. I hope this is helpful.

thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions. I had a recent X-ray and high showed stool through the colon. That’s 5 feet of stool in my colon every day even with 15+ bowel movements a day. I will try a laxative but that has not helped before
