have any of you been diagnosed with a hernia. My ibs and sciatica have been acting up lately. When sitting with my feet elevated, it feels like a lump of pressure low on my right side. I have appt coming up with doctor, but wondered if hernia can go hand in hand with ibs.

Yes, I have had two hernias. The first was operated on in October. A second appeared soon after on the other side and my constipation has been very bad.

I have operation booked for mid April and I hope that going to relieve it.

The first was noticed in 2017 about the same time that my IBS started. Hernia can present symptoms similar to IBS even when quite small.

Fingers crossed the operation helps to sort it.

I've had two inguinal hernias, one on each side. I've had them both repaired. I'm positive these were the result of lifting things that were too heavy. I don't believe they were/are related in any way to the IBS.
