Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency

I had a Gastro follow up appointment this weekend and the consultant said my fecal elastes test was low at 140. He has prescribed Creon for me to replace the enzymes that my pancreas isn’t producing every time I eat a meal or snack. Has anyone had this diagnosis and is it possible that is what has been causing my symptoms- upper abdominal pain, diarrhoea and weight loss and generally feeling rubbish for the last few months? He is also going to arrange a further test to check if I have bile malabsorption as well - if anyone has any experience of this would be good to hear about it … thank you

hello, I’m replying because I had pancreas pain a few years ago, which also showed up on a blood test. The pain was not like any other pain, it was very specific and inside the upper left side of the abdomen, under the ribs. It felt like someone banging a gong. Nights were horrendous. Mine was caused by a type of drug I was on for Ulcerative colitis. I stopped taking the drug on my own decision and the pain went away almost immediately.
