Hi, for the last few years I have had bouts of constipation, which I put down mainly to a sedentary lifestyle, bad sleep pattern due to WFH alternating with office and not being able to relax enough to go at work. A few weeks ago I wasn't really going at all, though felt I needed to, so took Laxido (6 sachets for about 3 days, followed by 2 for a couple of days, then 1 a day), which seemed to clear a lot out, though it was very mushy. Since then I am still on 1 a day but stools are thin and not much of them. Should I increase the dose again or is the Laxido causing the thin stools?
Constipation then thin stools: Hi, for the last... - IBS Network
Constipation then thin stools
I often have loose thin stools. I have recently seen a change in colour in my stools. No blood etc but lighter than usual. I have mentioned this to the doctor and I am being monitored .
Same here! Though I have 1 to 2 sachets of laxido per day. I think the most important thing is that the waste is leaving the body, but I'm still concerned that proper stools are not being formed. My doctors don't seem to care or be bothered about it... I've just seen a nutritionist to get microbiome testing.
Micro biome testing??? Sounds like money to be made by nutritionist without basis in science. I suspect you must pay out of pocket for this?
A gastroenterologist might do a stool culture which would test for pathogens in the stool. That would be covered under your medical plan.
The nutritionist knows a lot more about managing and healing gut issues than all the GI doctors I've seen. The doctors just give laxatives and pain meds. I'll update this thread when I've got results and a plan of treatment. I'm optimistic.
Results from the microbiome testing (stool and Blood tests):
I have both good and bad bacteria.
I have leaky gut (intestinal permeability) based on the fact that toxins are in my blood.
I have systemic inflammation and Auto-immune activation.
Both of the latter due to leaky gut.
Arthritis has presented due to this, too.
Im glad to have gotten the testing by the nutritionist.
Months later (and six years after the contaminated meal that brought on these issues), I am the most "normal"/healthy I have been.
I most highly recommend going low-fodmap, gluten-free and either seeing a naturopath or nutritionist (or taking FixBiome's SIBO supplements).
Hi, I’ve had the same experience with Laxido and thin stools. How did this resolve itself?
I've made several changes in my diet. The most surprising is that quinoa and too much spinach were actually hurting me; too much Fibre! Here's what I've done get me where I am today (which is symptom-free for the first time since 2018)...I've felt like my system is nearly healed for about two weeks. FixBiome's SIBO line of supplements with a low-fodmap, gluten-free diet was the starting point. I take omega 3/6/7/9 capsules. I've also switched to organic everything (as much as possible) and eat clean. I do intermittent fasting, so my "eating window" is only around 6 hours a day, so my digestive system gets time to rest and heal. I've also started taking 2 capsules of activated charcoal after each meal, which cuts gas and bloating ~ and has helped spur the digestive tract.
I also got the organic pillowcase and half-sheet from Sleepearthed.co.uk and truly believe the nightly grounding has helped me.
Best wishes ~
Thanks Elle
Do you still take Laxido? If not, how did you go about cutting it out? Did your stools get bigger? Hope you don’t mind me asking!
I take one sachet, sometimes need two a day. I tried going without it, but can only manage a few days. I asked the gp to give me some alternatives and he gave me the names of them, but I haven't tried them. I know slippery elm is a natural supplement that can help, too. I used to take that along with an herbal tincture that was custom designed for me by an herbalist. I much prefer the natural solutions. But I do think diet experimentation is a big part of this. Also, realize that things may change up along the course of healing. I different stages bring different "outputs" and and sensations.
I’ve did exactly the same as you with the same results! I’m still on Laxido but keen to get off it but when I reduce my dose I just get fewer thin stools appearing! How did you resolve this?
