nausea for 2 months!! help!!
Hi! This nausea feeling is really awful... Did you already check for parasite in the intestine or feces?
I have a good friend who had exactly the same thing. She was extremely nauseous for several months. She was not able to eat very much and lost weight. She had a colonoscopy and some other tests and they all came out normal. Doctors did not have any real answer and after several months the nausea mostly went away. It is important, though, that you do see a doctor about this.
I am guessing you did see a doctor, if as you said, he thought it was low iron? But didn't he suggest anything to help you? Or further tests?
In the beginning of 2018 I got bouts of nausea too, and didn't know what was happening to me. It was before my IBS symptoms started, but 4 weeks after that started I got an upset lower gut which lasted a week then that disappeared. My blood tests etc were all fine. My doctor thought it was probably a migraine type of condition but I didn't get headaches.
All I can say that might be of help is all that did pass and disappear. However in 2020 I got IBS. I very rarely get nausea now, only slightly perhaps when in a bad flare up, with most symptoms lower down, and part of the shaky nausea might be dehydration and low blood sugar during an IBS attack.
So this might pass, but that's not the point really. I would say definitely go back to your doctor to maybe find out if anything else is going on.
Hormones can cause nausea. So can stress...inner ear problems, infections, and other things.
You could try ginger, either make a tea with a finely grated piece, or nibble a piece with some honey. Ginger has a reputation for helping nausea stop, and it's safe for even pregnant women with morning sickness. You could have a piece of ginger 3 times a day if needed.
Have you been diagnosed with IBS? Nausea can be trapped gas in the system. If taking Rennie Deflatine helps with the nausea, you will know it is due to gas.
If this is the case, you could try keeping a food diary to find out what is causing it. A FODMAP elimination and reintroduction diet may help with this. However, in the first instance I would try a probiotic (Alflorex worked best for me) to make you more tolerant to different foods.
An excess of gas or trapped gas could also be related to a poor diet - how varied is your diet? If you are in the UK, you could try watching Michael Mosley: Secrets Of Your Big Shop on Channel 4 on demand.
Exercise can also help with trapped gas, including working on your core if this is possible. Stronger abdominal muscles can help the propulsion of gas through the system as well as any cardio exercise including fast walking - this helps to get things moving.
I had this until I discovered it was egg so I now avoid them. Write down your ingredients in food just to check.
Another cause of nausea can be serotonin that is kind of stuck in the gut and not being utilised properly. The gut produces a huge percentage of serotonin, but as far as I can make out it isn't all meant to stick around there.
It can cause loose stools too.
Well, that's the theory, but I can't offer any solutions. And if anyone has any practical suggestions to make serotonin operate in the way it should do, I would be grateful myself.
And no, SSRI medications won't do the trick, as something else is needed. Not to block the re-uptake of serotonin, but to channel it where it is meant to go, and not have it stuck in the gut.
