Yes my left side from rib cage to hip is very tender. I think my intestines are inflamed.

Hi, Yeah I always have this issue. I use a hot water bottle or wheat bags you can microwave. I find best not to take painkillers as this can make it worse , especially avoid Ibuprofen. A couple of paracetamol is fine to take. I also take peppermint tea or peppermint capsules. It seems to work for me. I took the advice of the lovely people on here and it really helped me .

Hope you feel better soon

Hi yes I've had this, been on merbeverine and omeprazole as after having my gall bladder out I developed ibs, anything I ate caused diarrhoea and cramps, and reflux. I was managing for years but then started with tummy pains around belly button area radiating to left side, groin and back, had ultrasound and nothing found so doctor prescribed amitriptyline and this has help.

I get "discomfort" lower left abdomen. It can be pain sometimes with a trapped wind feeling, but generally I hesitate to call it "pain". That comes and goes, and can go away for ages, then recur.

Meanwhile yes, I get lower back pain, but my lower back problems happened way before IBS. Yet they do feel worse whn my IBS is not so good.

What helps both I find, is a warm bath, and I use Deep Heat rub on my lower back (sacral area)

I get muscle spasms there sometimes if I do too much hard work and strain my back a bit, which is always vulnerable.

I don't know if the two are linked, or how, or what came first, the chicken or the egg. But I guess nerves and muscles that are irritated can refer pain to different neighbouring areas of the body.

Hi, yes I get this too. When its not too severe I find gentle yoga helps, also myofascial stuff like stretching and and using a soft myofascial release ball. For me the pain is worse because the initial pain makes me tense up which then makes the pain worse. Also some types of mindfulness/meditation (I like 'mindfulness for health')Agree others on the peppermint tea, I also find ginger, chamomile and lavender helpful
