Hello, I was put on 20mgs Amitriptyline to help deal with my bowel anxiety, which, so far, I have not had side effects apart from a dry mouth when I wake up in the morning.
Perhaps an anti sickness patch like Scopoderm, might be helpful. You can get this on prescription. Also, I find Rennies or Colpermin, really helpful for wind.
I've found sertraline really helpful for anxiety, am currently tapering off them as I've improved so much using a combination of sertraline and CBT. I didn't get nausea or burping as a side effect, just felt a bit weird for a bit, can't think how to describe it, it wasn't horrible though. Did have a bit of tooth grinding at one point but that didn't last long. But would definitely recommend giving it a go if that's what the doctor has recommended.
thanks - that`s encouraging. I`ve had a week on 25mg and another on 50. I think the nausea is slowly improving but I sometimes feel the anxiety is actually worse. I think some people do experience that when they start taking them.
