As I have posted on here before I have had constipation for over 10 yrs and after a recent colonoscopy I was told there was no cancer but I had diverticulitis as well as IBS and there was still some blockages in my large and small bowel. I am now on holiday on a cruise and I am using one Microlax each morning which is giving me a excellent bowel movement which means I can enjoy each day and not be a nuisance to my wife and friends. I am taking no other laxatives but I am worried that I might come dependent on Microlax. Any thoughts would be welcome…thanks

I can't make a comment about the long term, but since you are on holiday and obtaining great benefit from it, perhaps focus on that for that for now. Sounds like you are having a lovely time which is great!

My feeling is, if Microlax helps you as well as this, then it might not be worth worrying about getting dependent on it. Sometimes our bodies change, and we can't do things as naturally and well as we did when we were 30, so any help (so long as it's not hurtful or toxic) is welcome!

Was Microlax prescribed? If so, maybe you could chat at some point with the doctor who prescribed it, to see if there are any long term problems?

I don't know what's in Microlax but it does seem to be helping you tremendously. I would say "don't rock the boat" if something works for you unless you see real red flags about staying on it.

Haha..."rock the boat" ! I hope you are enjoying your cruise holiday, and getting better weather than dear old Blighty at the mo. I hope your boat doesn't get rocked too much and you have a happy holiday.

Sitting out at 9.30 here still 27 c just about to leave Tortola lovely island St marteens tomorrow before starting for home - still using Microlax every morning which means a good day! Hopefully I can come off them soon xx hope you ok? X

That sounds just lovely. And it's so nice for you that Microlax is helping such a lot. How good to be warm in 27C. Get your thermals ready for when you get back to UK!
