Do you have symptoms in your stomach?
Besides perhaps the intestinal symptoms (constipation, diarrhea, gas)...do you also have symptoms in your stomach/upper abdomen?
I have like a gnawing sensation almost feels like you are hungry but you aren't....
Does anyone experience this or any other upper abdominal symptoms?
I had a few weeks of something like reflux in late 2020 early 2021. It felt awful, like my lower esophageal sphincter wasn't working properly! I elevated the head of my bed by 8 inches and slept like that from about December until March. I also made a herbal bitters drink and had a wine glass full (about 100ml) three times a day, and took DGL licorice and regular spoonfuls of medicinal quality Manuka honey (which really hurt my bank account and took me close on a year to catch up with!!). I also did abdominal breathing exercises.
I don't know if anything I took stopped it, but something suddenly did because by Spring, it was gone and didn't come back so far.
But sometimes now I get short bouts of indigestion. It doesn't happen often, but comes every few months or so, and lasts a few days.
I just eat a Rennie tablet when needed and that takes it away. I only need one.
It doesn't seem related much to what's going on in my lower gut. I thought it might be connected with constipation, as very occasionally for a day or two I can get constipated. But it happens any time and even if I have looser bowels.
The only time I get a gnawing feeling is when I'm literally hungry, and that for me now, is a healthy sign, so I don't know what that could be for you. I wonder if it could be a kind of gastritis? I had gastritis when I was 12, and got a gnawing "hungry" feeling then, even when I wasn't hungry.
It sounds like the symptoms you get when there's an ulcer. I sometimes get that and it feels like hunger pains but I've already eaten. But when I did a test for H Pylori, it was negative, so I don't know what it is. I get the odd bout of heartburn at times but it's not constant.
Yes I did blood when wiping with loo paper quite scary thought it was Cancer ( As I had Breast Cancer prior in 2018 ) loosing weight ETC and sometimes when standing it was known to just leak out of me had FIT test then early 2021 had 2 colonoscopies and polyps removed both times NOT cancer but to have 2 things in a month NO recovery and yes I knew I would have to have some kind of prep stuff each time and still no bowel control with that even water went through me bloody awful stuff each time still having problems most of last year and over Xmas still no better in the early part of this year yet another colon scan more prep like a laxative dye liquid stuff ( again awful stuff ) at least no polyps thank you but still having cramping gnawing pinching feelings in my bum inside and out and this "URGE" 2 poop all the time feel like sat on rocks all the time keep being on and off the toilet most days just in case!!! pants and trousers up & down like yo-yo all day long even for a fart as I never know what will come out of me all the time!!! and never getting any rest from it I even had a scan over my tummy like they have 4 a baby still no results to why I am like this? Doctors keep giving me tablets and told to follow FODMAP diet even when you see a Doctor you only get 10 minute slot unless you remember to write as much as you can down but trying to explain can be over whelming at times when all we want is 4 it 2 STOP and leave us alone
My upper abdomen always feels as if full of gas and bloated, the feeling never goes away. It's hard to describe how it feels really but it's very uncomfortable. Di you feel this way too?x
Yes I do most days and I am all ways afraid every day as 2 what will come out of me every day most days it can be constipation sit on the toilet for bloody ages 10/20 minutes at a time really bad yesterday ( ended up having to pick it out with my fingers ) sorry to be graphic but suffering with the pain & discomfort can't sit stand or walk very good today yes I do get hunger pangs and think I eat a horse try 2 eat look at what I think I could but no way I also get gnawing pinching scratching in my bum and this constant "URGE" 2 poop most of the day and spend every day dreading what will come out of me it's a nightmare every day and feels like being killed/tortured by it slowly form the inside out and no matter what I try 2 do or med's to take nothing appears 2 work or help it's got 2 the stage that I just can' concentrate on anything on TV not when it is there chipping away at me bloody awful stuff it is!!!
Yes I do I get bloating feeling sluggish gnawing like you what appears 2 be hunger pang & an "URGE" 2 poop I end up sitting on the toilet even trying 2 force myself to poop sometimes I do and even when I have 2 fart I have 2 try and keep them in as I am afraid that if I don't some watery disgusting stuff may come out of me also ( sorry to be graphic !!! ) I am like that most days almost 365 days a year now this IBS/Diverticular Disease rarely gives me a day off most days I find it hard to walk ,stand or sit as sitting feels like I am sat on rocks and even after a cup of tea can make me feel the bloat and uncomfortable like I've eaten a big meal to eat ( if only!!! ) I have been like this on and off since early 2020 had 2 colonoscopies and polyp removal both times 6/7 1st time 3/4 the 2nd time all clear and had another colon scan early this year more tubes inserted and bowel prep so not any control over my bowels very degrading even had a scan like people have for when they are having a baby still no help with these bowel problems ( Husband retired now and that makes things worse 4 me I just can't win!!!) I don't think Doctors know what they are doing even more pills ETC LOW FODMAP diet sheets and shoved out the door and you only get a 10 minute appointment and can't tell them everything in it !!! SORRY 2 OVER share keep as well as you can please !!! x
Hi there I have just found this forum so interesting. Yes I get a gnawing pain it almost feels like I am hungry and it makes my stomach gurgle. I also get like a burning in my tummy too. I am in the midst of a flare up and feel horrid. I also get acid reflux and that has flared up too so I am trying to treat both. I was completely pain free/ibs free throughout the summer then its hit me like a train, it did the same last October - i dont lime winter so that maybe why! I have tried everything sometimes they work sometimes they dont. Just started Tumerica AGAIN and looking for a new probiotic. I have done Symprove didnt really help and very expensive.
Sorry I forgot to say I was diagnosed with gastris so that maybe something you could ask your doc about. Its all about self diagnosis docs are useless. I feel your pain x
