Traveling with Imodium

I am due to fly to France in September and take the occasional Imodium/loperamide to help with my IBS. I want to take some of these with me but I'm not sure of how to go about this. Has anyone taken this medication on a plane, can it go in your cabin bag. I have tried to google this but can't seem to find much information. Any help would by much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Sue. I have the same problem and use Imodium a lot especially when travelling to limit the urgent need for the loo! I’ve recently travelled to Ireland, Greece and Australia always with Imodium in my hand bag with no problem at all. I also always take Buscopan and pain killers. Hope this helps and you enjoy your trip.

I’ve done this several times. I always carry a couple in my pocket.

They go through hand luggage ok but if in your pocket you need to put them with keys and money in the tray at security as the silver foil back can trigger the security. Safe travels

As others said, no problem taking them in hand luggage or bag. I always have them with me on journeys by plane!

Yes, I put my medications in a clear plastic bag (like you would toiletries in hand luggage) and put them separate when bag going through. Always keep them in their packets and if you can in their boxes so they know what they are (although mine are always in just the sleeves they come in)

I wasn't planning on taking the boxes as they're quite bulky. Just taking them in the small packets thay they're in. It does say on them what they are so they will be able to tell whats in them.

I always take immodium with me in my handbag on a plane. I don't think you need to worry about it as it's not a controlled drug.

I take Loperamide to help my IBSd, especially when travelling. I haven't been to France but have flown regularly to Greece and Spain. As far as I am aware it's ok to take them with you. My IBS is worse in the morning so if we have an early flight I take 2 as soon I get up and sometimes another about 4 hours later, depending on the length of the flight. I always have them in my hand luggage. I hope this helps.

Agree, have been taking loperamide with me on planes for years, no problem.

I guess it may just be people using the name, immodium, but in case anyone not aware, buying equivalent loperamide tablets is vastly cheaper, well worth the effort. Eventually I got mine on repeat prescription, at which point it is also worth doing the annual payment for unlimited prescriptions. Anyone that suffers enough to need constant supplies should at least not have to pay out fortunes for it...🙂

I like you, do actually buy the generic versions, which are so much cheaper than the Imodium brand and they work just as well. Luckily I don't need a constant supply so no need for a prescription. My prescriptions would be free if I ever needed to though.
