you should get a referral to a dietitian a gastro or gp can do this for you. I stick to low fibre and low fat but I have also been prescribed vital shakes due to my bmi only being 14. There are multiple liquid supplements that can help like fortisip and ensure but I get on best with the vital shakes they all have 300 calories in a small 200ml bottle and come in lots of flavours this will help stabilise your weight and get all the vitamins and minerals in you to help you physically and mentally. You can buy them over the counter and online but they can be expensive so a prescription is advised.

Good luck xx

Hiya, I have lost loads of weight gradually over 15 months and now have a very low BMI. I have just been diagnosed with microscopic colitis and bile acid malabsorption. I am being treated by my GP, a gastroenterologist and a dietitian too. I supplement my diet with fotisip compact protein. I have them 3 to 4 times a day. I am still struggling to put weight back on but my food diet is very plain and limited. I also have a few gluten free foods in my diet and try to stick with the low FODMAP diet too. Not sure how helpful this is, I have yet to talk to a specialist nurse about my condition so still a little unsure of diet. I have been put on steroids for 3 months as I have quite a lot of inflammation in my large colon. I currently take questran medication which helps a little as I am unable to form a stool due to the inflammation and both conditions. I have had a long journey before getting these diagnosisis. I do hope you manage to find a suitable way to manage things which helps you to gain weight again. Although I have haven’t really gained much weight since starting the fortisips last November. Although I guess this will take a very long time in my case. Anyway I hope you manage to get the right advice and start to improve.

Well I have my bile acid malabsorption test next week, I have waited 9 months for it. The wait for appointments and tests is ridiculous sometimes. Hope all goes well with your scan.
