random ibs pain can’t move

Every few months I am poleaxed by excruciating wind type pains in my abdomen. The only relief is to lie on my side and stay there! No diarrhoea or constipation, just horrible pains. Can’t walk when it strikes. Lasts for a few hours then I’m ok. Why does wind hurt so bad but only now and then? The rest of the time it’s just uncomfortable and annoying.

Can’t answer your question, but if it’s any consolation binks I am suffering the exact same at the moment - nothing is helping 😩. I have come to bed early - don’t know what else to do. Just so fed up with this, just don’t know from one day to the next how you’re going to feel. I do hope you are feeling better now 🤞

Best wishes Ally

You are so right. My guts literally change from one minute to the next. A calm period can implode without any warning. My pain has now morphed into constant churning and bloating which is making me feel very sick and tired. 3 days and counting this time 😢

Hi Binks. Try a cup of warm boiled water. Don't sound nice but it has helped me in the past. Wish you better soon.

Thank you. I have to wait until I can walk when it strikes 😢

Rennie Deflatine should help with this. It can be related to large gas bubbles getting trapped and irritating already sensitive nerves in the intestines. It can be due to specific foods or specific quantity of foods and/or due to poor movement of gas through the intestines. Rennie Deflatine breaks the large bubbles into smaller ones which can more easily move through the system.

Hi. If it's not trapped wind and there been some good advice about that are you taking any meds as it sounds very similar to what I had when I was taking Omeprazole.

I've taken 10mg/day of omeprazole for 10 years for GERD and I'm very used to it. My pain comes every few weeks and for no apparent reason so I don't think it's that. I take Alflorex daily and since I started it 3 moths ago I seem to have felt better - until Sunday!!!

I'm new here on this forum. I recognise your symptoms , when these started with me and found out I have IBS , I did a lot of research myself and started the FODMAP diet (eliminating foods that cause gas). To find out to what foods I'm allergic to. Over time this improved things. And it is important to have ones microbiome examined. You could also ask your GP for a SIBO(small intestinal overgrowth) test. I hope this may help you!
