I'm 24 years old and I have been diagnosed with IBS after a colonoscopy in 2021. Lately been having a change in symptoms so visited the doc again. I was away on holiday but came back to 2 voicemail from my surgery regarding booking an appointment to discuss my FIT test results. I'm really worried..Google says IBS suffers don't usually have high calprotectin levels. The only other issue I cqn think of is blood has been detected Anyone else have a similar experience?

Does the FIT test pick up Calprotectin? I didn't know. I thought FIT just did traces of blood (anywhere in the digestive tract, even including the anus)
I had to have a separate test for Calprotectin (which was negative)
Maybe the test picked up traces of blood. That doesn't have to be a terrible thing. Yes it's scary if you hear that, but traces of blood can be caused by anything. Even a small sore place on the anus from straining or just plain soreness from going too much, or even outer anal irritation from wiping too much. Those would all be picked up on a FIT test. It does NOT have to be cancer or even IBD or any other inflammatory bowel thing.
But they may still want to discuss that with you which is quite diligent.
People with IBS and nothing more awful, can sometimes get blood in the stools.
I don't know if you had your dicussion consultation yet, but if so, I hope it went well and you are OK?
Hi! I did have my appointment and there was no blood detected..thankgod! But she's prescribed me with some meds to manage my IBS symptoms..thank you for your reply!
