hi everyone. I have IBSD since 2018. Tonight I had a friends birthday. So unfortunately had to go out for dinner. And yes my stomach got upset immediately after coming home from the dinner . That’s so upsetting 😣.Tonight I also got a headache and some night sweats and a very weird upsetting feeling like the world is going to end. Also feeling acidity and nausea. Feeling very alone today.
IBS is such an isolating disease. The one time I agreed to socialise and go out with my friends I am paying for it. I feel awful right now. And more over can’t sleep. Just felt like sharing here. I would love to chat with someone as I am feeling very alone due to myIBS tonight

Aww....I am sorry such a fun evening turned out the way it did for you. Yes, I imagine you had to eat or drink something that didn't suit your IBS, so as to be able to join in with your friend's birthday party and dinner.
I do know the feeling! Sometimes I get away with it...sometimes I don't.
I also know that horrible feeling of dread and anxiety that comes with a badly upset gut, like the world is going to end! It is horrible.
Anyway, you're not alone. It's so good to be able to tell us here how you are feeling and we all understand. This forum is a real blessing and people are so kind here.
Is there anything you can take to help settle your tummy right now? Even an indigestion tablet like Rennie or Tums or something would calm down stomach acidity. Or a little bit of bicarbonate of soda (baking powder) in a little water.? [N.B. Don't take both indigestion tablet and baking soda together, or within hours of each other, as that can cause an alkali imbalance which can be serious.]
Have you got peppermint tea? I hope that eventually your symptoms will ease up a bit tonight and maybe you can get a bit of sleep.
Whenever I have a flare up that comes on in the evening, I cannot sleep either. And because I feel horrible when that happens I can't watch a movie or read either. I put the radio on for some soothing classical music, and just to hear kindly upbeat voices.
I hope you will feel a bit better tomorrow. Just fast with fluids and calming herbal teas. Your body will let you know when it's ready for food, then eat something very bland like dry toast or something else just to line your stomach. Take care.
Thank you so much for your message.🙂 Over time now my body has learned to recover well. I did take my medication and drank only water for my acidity. Also once I pass motion I always tend to feel much better after couple of hours. Same think happened yesterday. Also your suggestion to listen to the radio …..that’s so beautiful. I never thought of that. Very lovely. I will try that definitely. 🙂. Yes it will definitely be a day of fasting and bland food for me. Well over time I have noticed eating the same things has different reactions. So am not sure what I eat yesterday that upset my tummy. Normally when I eat out I tend to stick to my safe foods. But sometimes restaurant hygiene also affects my very sensitive stomach. 🥲. Also my gastroenterologist had told me it’s better if the bad stuff goes out. I always try to remember his words. Also I am in peri menopause so that tends to cause move havoc with my IBS. Talking here is such a blessing with lovely people like you. Thanks so much again.
You sound as if you are feeling a bit better today, and I'm glad to hear it. I would stay on easy to digest bland foods for at least a couple of days to be kind to your tummy!
Sorry to hear you have had such a bad time when all you were trying to do was enjoy yourself which is such a normal thing to do but not for us it seems who suffer such extreme IBS issues, I had a similar day yesterday. Felt dreadful and hurt all over even had pain in my hands and fingers, no idea what thats all about but it was all related. Still feel fragile this morning. It is all such a trial.
I have no solution to offer you sadly only my empathy and understanding. Be kind and gentle to yourself today and I truly hope you pass through this phase quickly now and can get back to a better place. It truly is a nasty vicious condition to suffer with and the emotional impact is underestimated.
I am paying to see a Neurogastroenterologist later this month, highly regarded and respected. He deals with the brain/gut connection and muscles and nerves of the gastric system. He is my only remaining hope. Sending you healing cyber hugs and hope today is better for you.
thank you so much for your lovely message. Indeed we who have IbS issues have trials and tribulations everyday. I am being kind and gentle to myself today and trying to take a rest.
I am glad you are going to a good doctor. Hope they are able to provide you with some relief.
I do take a probiotic which seems to have been very effective in my case. I am already feeling much better today. I am unfortunately also going through peri menopause which is aggravating the IBS and causing additional symptoms. But overall a much better day today. Eating light and resting. Hope you feel better soon as well. Sending you all healing and positive energy. 🙂
