Hi well I have a hiatus hernia I never knew I had back in 2016 diagnosed while having scans for another matter. I already have IBS. Many many years, and have diverticular. I really never know what's playing up. My mother had a hiatus hernia, but how I got one, I have no idea. I only take 1 omeprozele when I'm going to have a curry or something, or having to eat late for some reason. Omeprozele every day isn't good for you, ppis also diminish part of the goodness that's secreted into the body by stomach acids, many essencial minerals in fact. But you may be more affected by yours. My mum's was bad. I'm medium I'm told. I have more trouble with gas and grumbles than actual pain. My diverticular has an issue about once a year. Sorry can't be more helpful, I never was told much about it at the time, but I did have GERD issues at one time, and I just use common sense what I eat, and always do not eat anything after about 6.30pm.
I have also had hernia for years but not bad pain. But my Daughter started getting the pain with hers and it took a lot of complaining but eventually they did operate on her and now she is OK.So I would suggest you keep badgering until they do something because if it's that painful it's not right.
I have a small hiatus hernia. I take Lansoprazole 1 hour before main meal. Usually OK with that. I have many other health issues so so.etimes not sure if it's that or not. I fear I will be on this for life, but my Doc does not seem very concerned.
I suffer from this and take an Omeprozele daily on prescription, but still have the occasional bout. I then use a normal over the counter heartburn relief liquid which does help. I literally feel your pain, but it does normally go after a short while. It might be with talking to your doctor about it.
My sternum is a bit sore to the touch and have had trouble swallowing liquids six months ago out of no where. Went for barium swallow which they said my esophagus showed no obstructions and the issue must be in the initiation of the swallow. Still, my sternum is sore and wonder if they missed anything like a hiatal hernia. Any thoughts, anyone? Hope you feel better. Sounds like you need stronger med or operation.
Did you ever get help with your pain. Just reading through the posts and came across yours which details what I am going through. Also got runny/blocked nose, fluttery sensation in stomach but the pain below my sternum is horrendous, constant.
