Hi
I have had IBS -D/mixed for nearly 20 years now, I am nearly 74. In the past, I would have plenty of times where it was a lot better and pretty manageable. But for nearly 8 or nine months now, it has been wiping me out and most of the morning has been lost with pain and having to lie down.
I have read all the wonderful advice on here over the years, so I am going to go back to eating a very boring diet and very little of it to see if that helps.
My real question is about haemorrhoidectomy. I know there have been discussions here about it before. I was referred to a colorectal surgeon a couple of years ago and he recommended it, but I was managing alright then. Now I am not managing so well.
Reading lots of posts on various forums, it seems that the surgery can be very painful for quite a while and can also be very debilitating. I was wondering too if haemorrhoids would re-occur, particularly as I see no time when I would be without IBS.
I had internal haemorrhoids banded several years ago, and I found this incredibly painful for a few weeks.
Please would someone care to comment about your experience? Was it worth it? How long was your recovery period?
Thanks
