Hi All

Suffering for the last year with chronic constipation. Had all the tests & exams- all negative. Since November I finally managed to get my bowels moving by themselves in the morning. High Fibre diet, magnesium at night & Qufora mini in the evening. Even though stool soft in the morning it really is quite large. Anyway despite bowels moving left with high sensitivity in the rectum even if there is a tiny amount of stool & also blocked incomplete evacuation feeling on right hand side of what feels like rectum and sometimes pressure pain outside of that area. Have been prescribed 10mg Citalopram moving up to 20mg soon. It’s not supposed to cause constipation however I find it takes more effort to get my bowel moving in the morning. Not getting any of the other side effects. Anyone on Citalopram with tips on how to manage this? Also how many weeks on 10mg before you move to 20mg.

I have rectal hypersensitivity as well as mucositis prolapse diverticular disease ibs-d. I go 7to 9 times a day mostly in the morning. In the evening my stools are hard with lots of flatulence, rectal pressure, urgency, and tenesmus. Feeling of a lot of pain in my coccyx. All tests have been normal no sign of infection cancer etc. My GI said it's ibs-d to mixed since it's not watery diarrhea with rectal hypersensitivity . Anal manometry is important test as it definitely defines pelvic problems as well as hypersensitivity. I passed the balloon which means I had no dyssinergia but the sensitivity numbers were up the roof. Just a little bit of stool or air makes me feel like I have a lot of poop in there but there's nothing. Treatment not much options Amytryptiline or Desipramine TCA help some people lots of sudd effects.
