Can you explain what it is? Thanks.

I've just looked up their website and this seems to be highly monetised. It looks like they also try to recruit people to practice and they mention things like getting return on your investment. They want to make it big business and to become a household name. I get suspicious of anything where people are trying to get rich from others who are not well.

They give very little information about the process. Saying that it encompasses hypnotherapy, CBT etc. Most psychotherapist practitioners normally bring a suit of different skills to personalise treatment anyway.

You might want to read these comments on it:

I would be wary. I hate to see people being ripped off.

Apologies for not getting back sooner couple of not very good days.

I totally agree with you and gone into as much info I can find.

I most certainly do not have the money to waste on something I am not sure about or endorsed by medical science.

As I am not paying and my physiotherapist is about to complete the course I will be her Guinea pig so to speak.

After not having a break or a day out for the past five years due to pain and discomfort I will try absolutely anything.

Everything with my health hit me at once went to bed what I call normal. Next day woke up in complete agony and have never been the same since.

My gastroenterologist describes the gut as the second brain. Hence this why I’m prepared to give it a go if it help.

Thanks to you all that have replied I will keep you posted whichever way it goes.

Sorry to hear you've not been good and how long you've had to restrict your life. Glad that you are not having to pay and hope it helps you.

If your main symptoms is pain, you may be suffering from visceral hypersensitivity (functional abdominal pain) - there is info about it here:

iffgd.org/lower-gi-disorder...

It is where the brain interprets the normal activity of the bowel as pain - this is due to a wearing down of neurons in pain control centres of the brain which can be caused by PTSD, neglect or abuse in childhood, extreme stressful events etc. The first line treatment is nerve pain agents such as low dose amitriptyline. There is a theory that being on something like amitriptyline for 6-12 months can help the pain control centre neurons to regenerate. Note that amitriptyline can cause constipation, but this can be helpful in people who are diarrhea dominant. Unfortunately I couldn't tolerate these. Linaclotide (for IBS-C only) & Alflorex have helped me with this intestinal pain.

The reason why Alflorex helped me is that my IBS started with a bout of holiday food poisoning. This led to a gut bacterial imbalance, which is true for many IBS sufferers. This imbalance can also be caused by other things such as restricted or unhealthy diets and stress. When bad bugs dominate the system, they can oversensitise the nerves in the gut too. When put together with visceral hypersensitivity, with the brain incorrectly interpreting signals and then the gut sending even more signals than it should, it ends up being a double whammy effect. If this is true in your case, something like Alflorex might help to bring things back in balance. When I took Linaclotide, it reduced my pain by 50%-60%. After taking Alflorex my pain reduced to zero and only comes back when I am challenging with new foods and before my body gets used to them (or I have to continue to give them up). Alflorex which has been scientifically studied for IBS has made me more tolerant to a much wider range of foods. Having a more diverse diet increases bacterial diversity in the gut. Bacterial diversity helps to additionally keep bad bugs away, in turn helping IBS symptoms.

There is also the Nerva gut directed hypnotherapy app to consider. This helps to calm intestinal nerves.

I thought I'd mention all of this, in case of any help to you.

Thanks so much for taking the time with such a informative reply.

I am on LINACLOTIDE now and yes it does help but the pain when I actually pass stools is so strong that I have almost passed out.

Amitriptyline didn’t help also tried naproxen and any thing the hospital suggested.lots of medication increase my eye pressures which makes it extremely difficult to find anything that won’t do that! What with COPD fibromyalgia a lesion on adrenal gland growth on spine now latest is tears In muscle in pelvic area. I have been told to stop taking probiotics because sometimes they can make things worse.

This all started when I finally faced up to fact that my marriage was one of convenience for the man I fell in love with and thought I still did regardless of what I went through. So yes my head was so messed up and guess it still is in some areas. I am still very determined to keep going until I have tried all that I can.Like a lot of others there have been times when I didn’t want to be here anymore. Then last year it nearly happened with my COPD if wasn’t for a fast ambulance arrival and two wonderful people I would not be here now.So yes I do want to be here.

So thankful I have found this site with all the helpful people like you who are going through the same issues and can understand and relate to our problems.

I have no idea what this is. But I have my own belief coding. I believe I have a "normal" and it exists. I cannot give up on this belief.

My IBS is fairly recent (3 years or 4) so I have a strong clear memory of my "normal", and do a lot of focusing on that. Only because it feels like the natural "me". Every morning I believe that will return properly.

I don't know if it's as a result of this self suggestion and a certain kind of positive stoicism or not, or it may be partly because of the homeopathic remedies I am given, but I do have good periods of normal guts . Some of them quite long periods at times. Yes, I am not out of the woods. But I could be a heck of a lot worse or have a much more restricted diet or life than I currently have. I keep believing in it.

Oh, and that doesn't eat into my precious state pension money each month either. It's free.

The only thing I found that helped with IBS was hypnotherapy which I got on the NHS but it was only available in Manchester under professor Peter Whorewell. If you google him you will see he is one of the NHS top consultants. Sadly he is retired now from the NHS and I think he works privately for a private hospital doing gastro surgery but I think the hypnotherapy clinics he set up may still be running under another consultant. I had 15 weeks of hypnotherapy that calmed my ibs right down and also anxiety. After a few months more of self hypnotherapy at home with recordings off the NHS hypnotherapist my ibs disappeared for a long time but then came back not long after taking ppis like lansoprazole omeprazole or h2 blockers like ranitidine or famotidine to reduce acid when suffer acid reflux but then went away again a few months after stopping. The drugs actually played hell with my liver Nd caused bile acid reflux. Please look up Professor Peter Whorewell and try and get a copy of his book. See if there are any links to his clinics and see if you can get a referral from your doctor even if you live no where near Manchester as I believe they do Skype hypnotherapy sessions as some people have ibs so severe they cut travel needing a toilet every twenty minutes. The hypnotherapy sessions can last over a hour each and professor Whorewell gave the longest consultations I've ever known. My first consultation with him was over an hour and the second consultation was one hour thirty five minutes. I remember apologising and he said it says on you appointment to be prepared to wait upto four hours. He said the reason for this is that I dont want patients seeing me once every six months and forgetting to ask advice or questions and leaving without asking everything so if one patient is in with me for two hours the next might only be ten minutes explaining they feel much better.

There are private hypnotists that can deal with ibs but you have to get the best ones that do pure hypnotherapy and guarantee improvements or your money back or continuos sessions after you paid for course.

I do swear by it though as it really worked for me
