YELLOW STOOL FOR A MONTH (need help)

I have been pooping yellow stool for a month now from 14th of December until tonight (21st of January)... It has been a mixed of soft solid, and soft served (ice cream) consistency. Sometimes it is solid snake like shape when I eat 3 bananas. It has been on dark yellow to golden yellow. Sometimes light yellow. It was only twice or thrice where I pooped a normal regular brown poop Also, for a month, most of my poop has been undigested food. I have been primarily eating rice, spinach, and long bread. And I always drink water and rarely any carbonated drinks or soda. Although, I have drank 3 shots of vodka on the 31st of December. And on 11th of January I had drank a normal glass of cocktail (Rockstar and rhum).

A few background. On the first week of December, I was taking Amoxicilin with paracetamol for a week because my molars got infected. Then, from 21st of December until January 5th, I was taking Doxycycline since I had an STD scare. I did not take anymore medicine from that night (5th of January) onwards except for vitamin c supplements.

I went to the doctor last 17th of January and they told me that what they can deduct is that these are side effects of the antibiotics. They told me to change my diet to boiled food, such as boiled chicken and rice, oatmeal and eat more fruits such as bananas and apples. The doctor also told me to drink some probiotics (Saccharomyces boulardii) for ten days. I'm in my fourth day and there are no changes. Is this normal or are there other reasons that might cause this?

Any change in your bm should be investigated, however as your GP has given a reason for the change, I would go back in about a week if you are still suffering the same symptoms.

Noted, I’m just worried that this might be more than the antibiotics. Although, I never seen blood or other colors in my stool except green because of the undigested vegetables.

Yellow stool might indicate problems with your pancreas. I would investigate further with a gastroenterologist. Pancreas disease doesn’t cause proper symptoms until it’s quite advanced. Please do not allow to get dismissed by the initial doctor. Or look for a second opinion.

I will try to ask for this after a week. I will still try the probiotics given to me (10 days duration and I'm in the 4th day). If I still have yellow stool, then I'll try to ask for more diagnosis.

Hi there,

Have you tried keeping a wellness diary to better understand your IBS symptoms and triggers? We recommend a 12-week diary recording what you are eating and your mood and events in your life.

Well, on the first week of December I was under Amoxiciline. And from 21st of December to January 5th, I took Doxycyline, because I had an STD scare... which drove my anxiety up. Back in December, I was heavy in fried pork and yogurt, as well as rice. This January, has been Rice, Spinach, Chicken breasts, Chicken thighs, and some green beans. Starting 17th of January, I only had grilled chicken, rice, mashed potatos, boiled potatos.

Other things that I feel is my tummy has been making a lot of sounds and gas.

We recommend keeping a diary. More info here theibsnetwork.org/shop/supp... It's a good way to help identify triggers and patterns to your IBS.

Sounds like you need to repopulate the good bacteria. Symprove do a 12 week probiotic. Yellow stool can also be signs of a food intolerance I get it when I eat wheat x

The doctor told be to drink sach boulardii orally for ten days, and if I still have yellow stool, then that's the time they will check my stool.

Have you had stool specimens checked for CDifficile Diarrhea? Antibiotics can mess with your gut biome and can allow the bad bacteria to overcome the good. If you haven’t had stool cultures done yet, suggest it to your doctor.

I suggested that when I first talked to her... I want my stool to be examined but she said that "as of now, what I can deduct is that you have yellow stool and undigested food because of the antibiotics", and I said "but it has been 2 weeks since my last antibiotics, for sure sometihing is happening in my digestive track".

Just to clarify, I don't have a lot of wet or liquidy yellow stool. Only soft solid and soft served ice cream consistency stool... Also, I just started to see some (fuzzy stuff) in my stool but I though this is because of the skin of the fruits that I have been eating like apples and kiwis.

Do you have any idea what my digestive track is going through right now? I'm a foreign worker here in Spain and i find it hard to cooperate or to tell my doctors what I'm feeling since there's a language barrier...

When I had CDiff I did not have a lot of liquid stools either mostly soft but with lots of mucous. I have had irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D) most of my life but when I was sick with CDiff it just felt “different”. I was also very bloated with much gas and at times felt nauseated but my appetite was pretty good by late afternoon. I had a “mild” infection so did not have the textbook symptoms that you read about.

Yes, it could just be an upset from the antibiotics and will eventually clear. I agree with another poster that taking a good probiotic will be beneficial regardless of the cause- but also be aware that some people don’t tolerate those well and can make symptoms themselves.

Perhaps you could explain to the doctor that since CDiff is becoming a very serious problem as a result of antibiotic use, it would give you peace of mind to be tested even though she does not feel that’s what it is. In my case I never thought in a million years that that’s what I was suffering from. I had been on 2 rounds of antibiotics and I am a nurse.

I’ll take not of this, I will go tomorrow to my health clinic to have this sorted out.

I really don’t know what bloated feels like, but I always feel hungry even if I ate 2 hours ago. Right now, I’m in a boiled meat, boiled carbs diet. For breakfast, I have only been eating oatmeal. For lunch and dinner, I only eat boiled fish or boiled chicken with rice and potatoes, sometimes green beans and asparagus.

Also, I have been very gaseous. My abdomen had been bubbling or making sounds for 2 weeks now even if I only drink water. Sometimes, I feel some aches all over my abdomen.

May I ask, did they also do a colonoscopy or gastroscopy to you? Or a stool test is enough to know if you have cdiff?

Stool test is enough.

I have had a colonoscopy and upper GI endoscopy but that was after I was over CDiff. It was done as a follow up and general screening because I am over 50 years old.

Wishing you luck!

I went back to my health clinic today, and my GP wasn't there; sothey give me another doctor and this doctor gave me another set of medicine :(

I went to my health clinic today because I felt a painful abdominal pain last night (23rd of January). And this morning (24th of January), I felt the pain again and had wet liquid poop. I explained it to the doctor and he asked me how many times has been I poop uually, and I told him 1 to 2 times? And then he gave me another set of antibiotics (Rifaximin) 400mg after eating breakfast and dinner and some stronger probiotics. :((

I'm scared that I have been taking too much antibiotics in 2 months that it actually might destroy my flora.

Hey, I had this problem for a while. Luckily for me it turns out it was yellow-ish because I was having too much fat in my diet and not enough of anything else! Seeing a doctor about it and having some tests done is probably the best way to find out what it is and put your mind at ease. Regardless of if it's something or nothing, a doctor can help you find a solution to make your life better so good luck and I hope you get some answers (and improvements) 🌺

Rifaxamin is usually given to treat travelers diarrhea (caused by E Coli bacteria) as well as Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I totally understand your concerns over disrupting the good bacteria. Don’t forget to space your probiotic at least a few hours away from when you take the antibiotics.

Hopefully this will clear up your problems!!

So, is Rifaxamin totally safe for me to consume? It is my third antibiotic for this month. I prescribed to take Rifaximin 400mg during breakfast and dinner while the probiotics during lunch.

I’m not a doctor, so I can only say that you can Google the drug and if you still have questions/concerns you’ll probably have to ask him/her.

I’ve never taken it myself, so not familiar with its safety.

Best wishes for a complete recovery!!

Hello guys, I just finished my antibiotics and on Monday I will finish my probiotics. I went to the doctor last friday because my problem has been the same. Still undigested yellow stool. The weird thing about it is that it is not soft anymore like ice cream but normal hard stool. I guess this is because I eat 2 bananas a day. I just would like to ask do you think that this might be a problem on my liver or still because of the inbalance of my gut flora?

I'm getting shy and dismayed to go to the doctor because in (this month) January, I went to the doctor on January 17, 24, 31 (one week intervals) because it gets worse and worse every week. And I feel like I'm causing too much trouble or I'm being annoying to them. I'm just having a hard time because they're not explaining my problem to me properly and they don't want to use the translator I'm handing to them. I told my doctor already if I can get a blood test because it might be my liver or gallbladder from all the antibiotics I took and my blood test will be on February 11. She also gave me a stool cup container for stool test but they said that they will only examine my stool if it is soft or liquid and these past few days, my stool has been hard.

I don't feel nauseous. My stool is mostly undigested and yellow. I only poop once a day or sometimes two, one in the morning and one at night. My upper right and whole left abdomen sometimes hurt but not my back. I just need help.
