I have been suffering from recurring wind for the past month.
Every evening at about 9:30 it begins and can continue until the early hours. I know this is unpleasant for my partner although she doesn't say any thing.
The biggest change within that time is a house move which was stressful in its self but the whole house move took 6 months over all and was more stressful than the actual move.
I haven't changed my eating habits very much and still eat in the same way that I did before the move.
The wind isn't painful and isn't always associated with a full bowel.
Has any one had a similar experience and what did you do to alleviate it?

I have very similar issue with wind, even to the point it wakes me up early hours which isn't very good when working. I have recently started taking windeze which you can buy over the counter., although i have now had it on prescription. The drug in the windeze is simetocone 125mg. It's definitely made a difference and eased things for me as it was affecting me every evening and was very uncomfortable and a lot of bloating. Also like you I could not pinpoint any changes in my habits to explain why.
As you have Windease on prescription I'm guessing its ok to take it long term and thank you for including the drug name as I can check that it is safe fir me to take (I also have to take various meds for a heart condition.
If there was a stressful period, there would have been a lot of cortisol in your system. Cortisol can mess with the gut microbiome, so effects could follow even when the stress has gone.
I don't know if that's what is happening or not. It might not be. But have you tried any probiotic, or probiotic foods? If so, do they make the wind a bit better, or worse?
Also, there are some foods which are notorious for making people windy even when they haven't got gut problems. Foods like lentils, beans, (sometimes dairy!), dhal, cauliflower, broccoli, turnips, swede, brussels sprouts. Even spicy food can do that.
Have you tried experimenting with cutting out any obvious culprits like the above. or any other foods that you can identify as your own "windy" foods? And if so, did it help at all?
If that's the case, it doesn't mean you can never eat those things ever again, just that you might have to watch portion sizes so you could experiment with that?
Other culprits: eating too fast, fizzy drinks, talking while eating, snatching snacks and meals on the go. Say "grace" in your own way before each meal and chew each mouthful well. Eat slowly, see if that helps at all.
Thanks for you reply and all of the useful suggestions. Your point about the cortisol makes good sense. I haven't tried your other ideas as the problem is quite recent. I am starting a food diary though to see if I can identify any triggers will explore the pre/pro biotic route.
