Hello everyone, I hope everyone is well. Could any of you lovely people direct me to a good probiotic please? I've tried yakult for a while and it didn't seem to do much for me, I know that yakult is a common one to take. I'm looking for a really decent one and I don't know where to start, it's a mine field! 🤯
Thank you.

I used to have the Hollande and barrett live friendly bacteria 20 billion... thought they where really good... think they have a buy one get one free offer on at the minute.
I loved H and B 20 billion till changed forma t now has l.bulgaricus in and not good if you have histamine intolerance - they have literally lost half the buyers in the UK because of this
I've just been introduced to 'kifir', although it's not a probiotic. It's meant to to be better than a probiotic. It puts good bacteria into the gut.I have had a glass for the past 7 days and yesterday noticed that the swelling in my hands and stomach has gone down. It has also settled my stomach.
It might be worth you reading up on it. It's used as part of the gap diet which I haven't started yet but intend to.
Yes ...I have been making my own kefir for years. It has really helped me but you need prebiotic foods as well. Look up list of prebiotic foods. You can also buy a prebiotic supplement. It is basically fiber that cannot be digested. All probiotics need prebiotics.
I have been taking a glass of Kefir each morning for 7 days now and starting to notice positive changes in my digestive system. I am having less cramps and acid reflux also bowel movement fairly normal . 🤞🙏
I take Alflorax one daily but you really need to take it for a few months. My gastroenterologist recommended this to me. Good luck hope it works for you.
hi Macca I take Alflorex as advised by the consultant at hospital, & my symptoms have definitely improved after around 3 weeks. Been on them for around 4 months now & wouldn’t be without them.
I find Alflorex very good too. The chewable banana and strawberry flavoured ones. You can take them at any time of day, doesn't have to be on an empty stomach.
I use bimuno powder, cheap and can be kept in a cupboard the subscription direct from them is way cheaper than Amazons offering
I have tried many probiotics and Alflorex worked the best for me. It has been scientifically studied for IBS. It contains a strain of bacteria normally passed from mother to baby during a natural birth to prime the baby's gut based immune system. If you have a dominance of bad bugs in your gut causing you issues, it is a strong strain that can help kick their backside and bring things back in balance. It worked best for me, but not every single person gets benefit. It depends on what is causing their IBS and we know there can be a variety of reasons for it. One of these days it will no longer be called IBS, but be broken down into a specific set of syndromes with different cause and treatments - we can only hope!
There isn’t really a “one size fits all” solution. I have found Alflorex more effective than acidophilus probiotics but, like you say, there are plenty around. The Zoe Health Study, run by Prof. Tim Spector at Kings College (health-study.joinzoe.com/), is currently advising on natural products to help IBS - some of these seem a bit obscure to me, but obviously worth a try.
I use Bio-Cultures Complex by Free Soul sold on Amazon, it has a 50 Million CFU, 16 strain, one a day capsule which seems to keep everything in order. I used Alflorax beforehand but it just gave me stomach ache
Hi Macca. Its a mine field out there like you and so many others we have all tried and willing to try anything that could possibly help.
For me I was recommended via my Endocrinologist Bio Kult advanced multi strain formation. They work pretty well for me. I did stop taking them for awhile because I thought it was a case of mind over matter, but it certainly was not. It has taken me about six weeks to get back to how I was so I will continue to take them lesson learned😥
They are fairly expensive for me to buy so I usually buy them from Tesco when they have offer buy two get third one free.
I have tried so many different things over the years to different brands of probiotics to kombucha to kefir with not much luck or diffrence. Recently started taking Biokult, just the regular one and it's made a huge difference in the last month I've been taking it so would highly recommend
Hi everyone, thank you very much for you're replys and great selection of probiotics to research. Thank you all for all being so helpful. Looks like I'm going to be busy there's that many to choose from 🤯
I really appreciate the responses and thank you again.
