I have heard Buscopan can help with cramps. Though I haven't taken it, It contains hyoscine hydrobromide, and can calm gut spasms. You could try it? Or of you're not sure run it past your GP?
Any changes in your symptoms should be discussed with your GP in the first instance. They may want to re-run some tests.
My IBS got progressively worse even though I was on a low FODMAP diet. Sometimes the measures and dietary restrictions needed to keep IBS symptoms under control can make IBS worse in the long run. A less varied diet means less feed for your microbiome and less bacterial diversity in the gut. It is this bacterial diversity that helps guard against IBS. Often IBS starts with a gut infection e.g., from food poisoning. This creates a dominance of bad bugs in the gut. The reasons why dietary restrictions can work is that they feed the bad bugs less, but it also means the good gut bacteria aren't fed either. This can end up in a vicious cycle.
Have you tried Alflorex probiotic, which has been scientifically studied for IBS? It contains a strong bacterial strain that is good at fighting infections and bringing balance back to the system. I found it reduced my IBS pain too, since bad bugs can oversensitise the nerves in the intestinal tract causing pain. It may make you more tolerant to different foods. Having a varied diet including lots of cereal fibres, nuts, seeds, pulses, oily fish (the Mediterranean diet) can increase bacterial diversity and reduce IBS symptoms.
