Hi - I often wake during early hours with not painful but crampy spasms in my abdomen. Similar to needing loo but not ready yet. I have lived with some IBS for many years but since having gall bladder removed gut seems to have become more sluggish and I do experience some constipation at times. I have recently been diagnosed with diverticular disease and get a lot of colicky pains often in left hand side mostly before going to the loo in the mornings. Anyone out there that has found anything to help? Going round in circles atm with all the information out there but much of it conflicting!

Cramping spasms !
hi there , I too have found my ibs symptoms worse after gallbladder removal so I do empathise with you . I’ve read that taking oxbile could help if you’re not vegetarian that is , although I’ve not tried it yet . Massaging the tummy and ginger tea helps me and also a hot water bottle , sorry I can’t offer any other advice , take care x
Thanks for reply. It's helpful to know others are in the same boat!
Hi - Have you tried mebeverine? I have been prescribed it by my GP for exactly the same symptoms. 3 times a day - 30 mins before food. It certainly helps with the cramps/spasms. Pain not waking me up early morning now.
Best wishes for finding a solution.

I too have had problems sconce gallbladder removal! I have found being strict with my diet, no dairy, no sugar and no beans, pulses etc helps, unfortunately I often lapse especially after feeling good for a while and it’s never worth it! I look at the silver lining in that I have lost nearly 2 stone. Don’t know if this diet would work for anyone else though. Maybe give it a try x
