I had a bad bout of IBS last week, and since have had a throbbing pain on my left side of my waistline. Has anybody else had this and will it resolve itself?

I frequently get a sharp, making me gasp, pain up under my lower left rib cage. Is that what you’re feeling?

It is a throbbing on left side, just below waistline. It comes on and then it eases for a while. Tender when I press.

Yes, I get that. I adjusted my diet and that helped. Abdominal pain can be down to other problems as well, though. If it persists, it may be worth getting it checked out with your gp. For me, cutting out lactose and taking peppermint capsules helped.

Thank you for replying. I don’t feel quite so panicky now knowing others have the same symptoms as me. It is so uncomfortable when it’s there.

I have this pain also, lower left abdomen. I used to get it higher and going through to my back but now it is a nagging pain. Notice it more after my evening meal. I'm coeliac but also have IBS so l put it down to that.

I get it on the left 2, felt like something inflamed, I couldn’t sleep on that side and was so bad at start it hurt to walk. That lasted for 3 weeks but signalled the start of IBS episode for 2 months and I’ve felt it since and think it’s connected to acid indigestion. I did get checked out at hospital after the 3 weeks and they found pockets of air all over my abdomen. As you say, it’s reassuring other people get it as I was very worried as it felt like an obstruction of some kind
