Hi. I’ve got SIBO and am on antibiotics and I’ve just had a letter from my Gastroenterologist providing test results for a precreatic enzymes feacal test I had done and it’s come back saying I’m not producing enough enzymes. He’s prescribed Creon which I will try, but he’s also prescribed Lansoprazole as apparently stomach acid can reduce Creon’s efficacy. It’s that that I’m absolutely scared stiff of as I used to take Pantoprazole (for Barrett’s Oesophagus/Hiatus Hernia) and it just caused an absolute nightmare for me - constipation, spasms all over my body and probably exacerbated my thyroid and menopause problems.
My question is, does anybody else take just Creon on its own?
Thank you

I was prescribed Creon by my GP, but the pharmacist said she should have tested me for pancreatic insufficiency first. It sounds like your GP has done this if your enzymes are low.
I have been on Creon 24,000 1 with each meal for 6 years with on/off diarrhea. Recently put on Creon 36,000, 2 with each meal because of loosing weight and diarrhea. Trying to determine if the original diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis or pancreatic insufficiency is the right one. Maybe both? Stools have firmed up after being on Lomotil for a month and weaning myself off and still okay with taking Creon 36,000, 2 with each meal. Had an MRI and will have an endoscopy /ultrasound next month. Feeling so much better.
