Lansoprazole and cyclizine

Anyone had experience with taking these 2 for ibs? Just been prescribed by doctor after all generic IBS medication tried and failed.

They are anti sickness and stomach acid tablets.

I have had both previously for other problems but not for ibs x

Hi Sophie, DM14 is correct on the treatment that these tablets are prescribed for...... I was on Lansoprazole for a few years but a very wise GP made me have a H -PYLORi test, this looks for a GUT BUG -if you have this bug you will be given a triple course of antibiotics - i had this bug had the treatment and have never had to use Lansoprazole again - its not a great tablet to be on for too long. Not sure how long you have been suffering with your symptoms but if they consist then i would ask for more extensive tests.

I have an appointment with a gastro consultant at the beginning of November so i think the gp has given me these as a last resort whilst I wait for the appointment. I’ve had IBS for 5 years (I’m only 20) and has now got to the point where I simply don’t eat because symptoms are so awful. Have lost 5kg and now underweight so willing to try everything

I eat boiled rice, tuna & scrambled egg when i have a flare up for a few days and that plain food tends to calm things down. Try and stay positive getting down will make you worse i know its tough but positive thinking and laughing does help - and there are no chemicals involved

I stopped having flare ups about 2 years ago-now just all day every day awful symptoms ☹️

Hi I have the cyclizine on repeat for as and when a very good anti nausea drug

He lansaprozle I had for diverticulitis and ibs for a month or so from one dr and another took me straight off it

Thanks, do you know Is the cyclizine an “when needed” tablet or should I be taking them everyday to keep it in my body?

Even when on chemo I didn’t take if not needed

Yes-on amitriptyline so probs that/both put together

Have experience with Prilosec..no others. What my doctor prescribed for my chronic diarrhea is: Welchol and/or Colestipol. I take Colestipol because it's less expensive over here in the US. Miracle drugs!

If I was you I would take cyclizine 50mg, omeprazole 20mg, And buscopan 10/20mg this is what I would use to treat ibs

may I ask how can cyclizine help ? If it's worth it , I will let some friends buy it for me from London as we don't have it locally ..
