Rooibos/Redbush tea an anti-spasmodic?

Recently a friend recommended I try Redbush tea because it has no caffeine and had helped him when normal black tea had upset his stomach.

I tried it and I have feeling it is also helping with my IBS-C cramps.

It seems that it also contains a number of ant-spasmodic compounds and has been researched for this effect. I drink it with milk, though it can be taken without, and it has a pleasant taste. I believe it also contains no tannin.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone else who has tried it.

Thanks,

i find that peppermint oil capsules give me bad reflux but they do stop the cramps.

only buy peppermint oil capsules that are enteric coated and you probably won't have this problem any more (example: Colpermin at Boots or Superdrug)

I have been drinking Redbush for years, not because of my IBS but recommended because of the Menopause. I rarely get pain and bloating now, just loose stools and diarrhoea, whether Redbush had anything to do with it I don't know but I rarely drink any other tea.
