This happens to me on occasion too. I will feel hot, shaky, and like I could pass out. I feel a little anxious with it too. It isn’t every time thankfully. After using the restroom the feeling will subside. I do still feel a little shaken up after it happens though. I haven’t found anything that helps. Other than an ice pack on my chest, cool water to drink, and taking it easy for a bit.

krn210,Morning to you , You discribe even better than me exactly how i feel !!,i really felt scared tbh,but knowing otheres get it like that too really helps, i havnt done the ice pack thing tho ,once or twicd before when its happened ive actully vomited too, thats even worse ,but thinking about it ive been getting that shaky feeling sometimes day ahead and i thought it was todo with my Diabetes,no wondered the diabetic nurse was confused lol, its also been suggested thr Vagus nerve is involved ,i will read up on that so thankyou very much for you thoughts and time and everyone who took the time to reply , i wish you all well take care xxx

It's all to do with the vagus nerve. Here are a few articles I have found on this subject.

ctvnews.ca/health/fainting-...

verywellhealth.com/vasovaga...

psychologytoday.com/us/basi...

medicinenet.com/defecation_...

It's the most awful thing to cope with but when you know what it is, it's not so scary but it is still horrible to go through.

You weren't 'going on a bit'. You should listen to me! haha

I have also had some funny turns before a bowel movement. Racing heart, darkest thoughts, feeling of weakness. leg weakness, cramps, shaking all over, getting a hot flush. Yes.

It doesn't happen every day with me, but sometimes. I can relate. It's more likely to happen that way when I have a bit of a flare-up and need the loo at an unusual time of day, like evening or night. I once felt like I was going to have a heart attack just because I needed to go at 9pm. Once off the loo, a shaking wreck, I had a shot of brandy, and was perfectly fine, and walked half a mile to feed a neighbour's cat. I even ate a snack when I got back home.

It might be something to do with a vaso-vagal spasm. I don't know the solution though, I'm afraid. Others might.

This is fascinating! It sounds like part of why I came off metformin (regular, not er) several times. I wonder if basic metformin messes with the vagus nerve? Because for me it was gone when I stopped taking met. (And then my blood glucose levels blew up; meh, but found the extended version, so much better.)

If an IBS attack is imminent often the 1st warning is feeling hot & nauseous 🤢
