FODMAP app: please can anyone recommend a good... - IBS Network
FODMAP app
hi Tcho 1
I use the Monash Fodmaps it's very good. It provides recipes and diary for foods you may have tried but find ok. I live by it most of the time even though dieticians say not to but if I try anything on the list that's high in Fodmaps it's generally correct and find myself doubled up very quickly. Hope this has helped. It was created by Monash university of Canada. I think they are one of the only universities to do such a large study on IBS
I use the FODMAP A-Z app which whilst it doesn't use specific products, it does allow you to search for all foods/ingredients. Plus what is really useful is it provides a RAG status on portion sizes and also differentiates between each of the four main FODMAPS - Oligos, Fructose, Polyols & Lactose.
Therefore, if you have identified which of these effect you the most you can be more specific in your targeting eg. Avocados are only red for Polyols and this is only for half an avocado plus. Therefore as Polyols don't appear to be too bad for me I can eat small portions of avocado - and to be honest this seems to be true.
Monash app (Melbourne, Australia, not Canada)
I’ve got the a-z one but would love an app that you could scan the barcodes on!!
Monash App also , australian They have done alot of research on the subject it , it was also the one recommended by the dietitan
