My advice to anyone would be to get a thorough blood test not one that tests for vitamins and iron etc but a deep thorough marker related blood test.
I used to get regular blood tests and all results were great I felt amazing when leaving doctors. Then one day I met the right doctor who recommended a deep blood test showing markers for other things and now even though my life has thrown upside down I know more now and can move forward with the positives and negatives.
Insist your doctor asks for a marker blood test and insist on what you want to be tested for and not a regular blood test.
Thanks Victoria

Thing is how far do you go?? Keeping fit and eating well getting sleep etc are all positives. Regular check ups are good but you have to draw the line. Or maybe it’s a full body scan next and so on.
I agree keep healthy eat well sleep well exercise if you want to.Don’t overthink anything.
9 times out of 10 all things are great.
But what I think I’m trying to say is if you have a pain in an area for a time and you only have a basic blood test you could be given not all the information.
I pushed for a more deeper blood test I had a nagging feeling.
All other tests have always come back great now this occasion one marker is elevated so I am like in shock.
Just like your DR may not always request more than is needed or expected so ask for more. You know your body better than anyone
HiI always had yearly blood tests since having my gallbladder removed ..
but recently I asked for a more thorough test as my results were always great so I have always been happy and healthy. But I just had a nagging feeling.
I was shocked last week when one marker the DR requested came back elevated .. I don’t want to mention the marker as it stresses me out if I hear too much or read too much information on it.
So I am now having a scan next week ..
I have always been healthy and never had too much concern for routine checks. I think what I’m trying to say is if you have a pain in a specific area for a while ask for a marker test for that located area and not just a basic blood test.
Once I know more in the next week or so then I will start looking into things more but for now I don’t want to overly think about it.
We MOT our cars yearly without a second thought ..
Just ask your GP for more if you feel you need to. Because I was always happy with what I was hearing.
I didn’t know I had no idea you could ask or it could be requested.I always believed you had a blood test and when it came back good iron good this good that all happy days and you walked away happy.
But if you have a pain for a while in a specific area you can ask or your DR should request a marker test for example your liver, ovaries, spleen, pancreas all have a specific marker test available. There are lots of blood marker tests.
When the blood test form is filled in they will tick specific boxes and areas they want a marker test checking ..
I had three checked two came back as normal one didn’t.
It is only very slightly elevated but regardless it’s still elevated and I’m like omg what the .. and why ..
How long has it been elevated ?
What if I had never asked for this specific test I would never have known because my usual blood test only six months ago was great.
But I will see what the scan shows next week but hopefully if anything it is very early.
Just always push for more if something doesn’t seem right. I never did I was always happy
I'll be interested to know what they say. Perhaps you could make a new post about it, if you comment on this one, not many people will necessarily see it!
Hi Victoria, sorry only just noticed your post. I don't know about adding words that will get tagged, so I guess you don't have to worry about that. I have often wondered how people put the words there!! 🙂
I think we can get over anxious with what's going on in our bodies, knowing that something's up (the body never lies) but feeling that we're being gaslighted by GP's fobbing us off with endless medications and ever lengthening referral lists. So it goes on...
But one has to draw the line somewhere: it's all about reconnecting the gut-brain axis and whatever you need to do to get there.
I'm trying a more mindful approach, more yoga, less stressful lifestyle, incremental dietary adjustments. I've learned that endless tests won't ever give you what you're looking for.
I know I totally agree with you. I think I’ve had a bit of a fright and I am caught in an anxious cycle. But I feel better today than yesterday and I hope that feeling continues.
I am hugely into positive thinking, mindfulness etc etc and I normally practice what I preach.
But you are right I have to trust in my mind and body and that all will be good.
