Fybogel (osmotic laxative) vs Laxido/Movicol (osmotic laxative) ?

While dulcolax (bisacodyl) seems to help to keep things moving and prevent wind getting locked in, I can't keep using it and have to switch to something safer long-term. Anyone got experience with fybogel and laxido/movicol for long term? With fybogel it seems it takes a while to get working (compared to 6+ hour for other types).

I use laxido 2sachets one at night and one in morning . It does help to move things along But doent ease pain so I take peppermint caspules and sometimes buscopan to help with that . I’ve been on it for 2years .hope that helps . But I was on constella 290 1 tablet a day that helped me . But doctor took me off it saying it was causing my low salts . So laxido is all I take now but blood salts are still low.

I swear by fybogel. I take one sachet after my evening meal, and I also stick to a moderately high fibre diet, bran, fruit, veg, etc, and it's been a life saver for me. For a full year my IBS had flared up and was chronic, with diarrheal sometime 5 to 6 times a day. Withing 2 days of starting on the fybogel al the symptoms had gone, and apart from the odd occasion when I've eaten very spicy food, haven't returned since, and that was 18 months ago.

Hi XD, I was on Fybogel for a couple of years…. Useless. Then put on to Laxidol, pretty good but not sure how long to take for. Also only use it if I know I’m not going out that day !! The best tablet I’ve ever been given ( by a local) is Mebeverine. Helped amazingly with the cramps.

I used to use dulcalax but it was harsh and not good long term. I am now on 1 or 2 sachets of cos mocol and also take probiotics. It works in a natural way but you do need to drink lots of fluids too i find.
