Bloating

Hi, I am new on here and would like some help. I have not been well for around seven months now, bloating every day and getting worse as the day goes on. I have had blood tests and a scan and both were good, so IBS was diagnosed. I have been doing the low fodmap diet for three weeks and it has helped a little, but what I really want to know because I am not eating my usual things bread cakes pastries etc I have lost some weight which worries me as I had already lost half a stone. Does anyone know if this can be normal or not. Thanks

It's not surprising you lose weight and probably not enough to worry about of itself, but best mention to your GP/consultant. Mine didn't think it was anything to be concerned about: l've lost more than you and moved from overweight to upper range of healthy (which is a pretty broad range if you go along with the BMI thing).

I lost weight before I started fodmap due to stomach issues and because it was very limited I lost even more and struggled to put it back on. Hopefully you will find a balance with the things you can tolerate. I started eating alot of high calorie foods to build me up now I have high cholesterol which is so annoying! I feel like I'm on a merry go round 😌

try adding some antibloating foods drinks to your diet; e.g. cucumber, avocado, banana, asparagus, peppermint

losing weight isnt unheard of. If you stop having high carb and hi fat foods its going to have an effect. If you dont want to lose the weight, introduce GF (gluten free) bread and deserts.

Awesome, ...personally they didnt have al this stuff when i learnt i cant have dairy so now if i have the desserts, my tummy retaliates cause these GF, DF options have soooo much sugar. ...they are bound to add the weight, ..just be carefu how much you have.. dont wanna gain too much weight, ..i mean, in an unhealthy way!
